Hi guys I was speaking to someone today who said bi-turbo 2.7 RS4 engine coil packs are supposed to be more rubust than the standard 1.8t ones. Has anybody tried these and would it be safe to use these as a replacement? Thanks
the s4 ones dont actually seem to die, i can get you the part number if you like. s4 owners moan about all sorts of common failures but coil packs arnt one of them
I've heard this before... don't know how much truth there is to this? Someone told me agesssss ago that they fit & added a small increase to performance. Never really looked into it as I imagine you pay 10x the normal amount for an RS4 coil pack over standard & the performance increase was the standard pub talk BS.
But these are the ones different from the AGU ones, right? These do not have to use the ignition amplifier (next to the airbox) right?
someone needs to answer this once and for all.. the OEM 2.7 S4 coils are 20! aparently they work better than the 1.8T OEM coils.... i cant find proof tho. cant be the RS4 as these are V8.. right? ...Matt82, what is your experience? do you run the S4 coils? and yes, what is that part number..? SOMEONE PLEASE CLEAR THIS UP
the RS4 2.7 twinturbo has these ones fitted, the new V8 RS4 has differant ones... id like to know as its quite annoying when coilpacks go haha...
my experience is of an s4 and the coil packs do not appear to die. rare to find a coil pack failure on the audi boards what proof can you have? you can search yourself. no idea if theyll fit in a 20vt though but i dont see why not. the AGB is basically a larger 20vt
1.8T's seem to be used on S4's but i cant find anything round the other way. they appear to be the same connectors. 2.0T FSI coils are what S4 owners are UPGRADING to tho. looks like a good idea. but on a 1.8T the single zetec coil and HT's seems cheaper and just as effective.
I bought 4 new coil packs (Revision "R", 4 pin) for my AUM code 1.8t, about 14 month ago from the dealer, only because they assured me that they hadn't had any failures on this version. The 2 or 3 year warranty may have swayed me a little. Whist using them in my daily/track/van, I've done 5 track days and one engine fire. It's APR stage 2 etc.. and generally, people used to go through a few coil packs when chipped. I'm not saying that they'll be 100% reliable for everyone, but there doesn't seem to be anywhere near as much talk of blown coil packs these days.
THAT IS EXACTLY WHAT I WANTED TO HEAR, MATCHING ENGINE CODE AS MINE N ALL. i have one revision R already and will buy another 3 with this knowledge in mind thanks MAT-R
They were just from the main dealer. From memory, over the years as I've bought them, they've just changed the letter on the end of the part number as they've updated them/changed suppliers. It just so happened that the "R" version was available at that time, but could have moved on again. I'll get you the full part number from mine if you find that you need it
I have been using these for 6 months. They haven't made any difference at all to my car. I still go through the odd coilpack.
