View Full Version : TOTAL R32 nightmare

Bought some locking wheel nuts last week and went to fit them but foud tat someone had already tried to nick the wheels, causing over £400 worth of damage by breaking off the cover seal (under the door sill). I then fitted the wheel nuts thinking that would be it but they came back, tried again and kicked in the front wing (in frustration, I assume). Another £1000 damage and a totaly paranoid me. Car is now parked over half an hours walk away (they are obviously targeting the Golf) and I'm a nervous wreck.
If ANYONE knows of any lock up garages or secure areas in the Clifton area then I am after one URGENTLY! They may have given up now but I'm not willing to find out. Considered just selling it but I like it too much.
If anyone's been offered R32 wheels, I'd be keen to hear as I will immediately deck anyone who offers me any. Same if I see an older Golf with them.
Nightmare. [8(] [:^(]

if you park near your house, can you not have CCTV pointing at it?
do you park in the road?
sutherlandm
20th December 04, 15:30
I do, but it's not a fixed space.
All other cars seem to be fine.
A tricky one indeed.

FinallygotmyGti - I'm actually going to be a bi super cautious and just say "near the Suspension Bridge"
Andy - Deeply, deeply unfunny.
If any non R32 has R32 wheels it's an almost dead cert that they are nicked.
If I see anyone with them I will aks where they got them.
If the reply is not 100% legit, I will deck them.

The R32 doesn't have one (or maybe it's in the boot somewhere!).
You can't to anyone or fit a towbar (exhaust gets in the way!).
If anyone hears anything about Bristol area R32 wheel offers, let me know and I'm seriously mad about this.

Clifton's a nightmare for car crime. Nice cars lining every street and none
of the posh people or students would say anything if they saw someone
messing with a car. You see a broken window and fresh glass on the
street pretty much every morning.

I'll definitely second that Greg S!!! I always used to walk home from a night out and see broken windows and stupid inane stuff like torn off wing mirrors - no point in it but f**k1ng irritating when you have to replace them just cos some dirty chav has been p****** about!
Understand you don't wanna publicise where your car is. My best advice is try the local council. They might have local garages for rent - about £30 a month, but worth it for the peace of mind!

so are you saying your wheels actually got stolen? [:s]
sutherlandm
20th December 04, 17:21
Nope.
They TRIED twice.
First time they cracked and half ripped off the the seal cover (tried to jack it, failed - Too heavy?!!), then they tried again (by which time I had better locking nuts), got annoyed so kicked in the front wing.
Total damage - £1500+
Wheels still untouched bar one missing wheel nut cover.

and you wonder why i don't even bother parking my m3 on the road overnight anymore.
I thought you were in Canary Wharf anyway?
Best bet for you would be to park you car with the wheels turned into the kerb as well as 5 sets of lockers.

I know how you feel, i have had similar problems recently. Some little ****ers egged my car one night. Then about a week later they decided to dent the wing with a hammer. Also had all my badges nicked. I know what you mean, it does make you paranoid [8(]

Car crime is my biggest hate of most senseless crimes. Pure jealousy from little TWOCer pricks!!!
My car doesnt spend a single night outside the garage now, and all my friends think im mad as i will not drive my car anywhere that has a public car park. Such as the cinema, shops etc.
If i go out with mates and someone has to drive, it certainly isnt me. Paranoid?? Yes, but its the fatherless childs that have made me this way!!
