Ordered one this week and fitted it last night on the mk2 VR - As i'm running an 02J shift mech on my 02A box with pin style cable ends, I can use the later 5spd TT shift lever which reduces the fore-aft throw by 20%, difference between the existing lever and the TT one was just that they've moved the pin closer to the centre of the lever.

Not bad for 24:00 (inc vat) from my local Audi dealer Listers Audi 01905 421000

    Part number is 8N0 711 051 A

PS - and just to clarify, it fits 02J 'boxs with pin ends rather than the ball fitment of the earlier cars.

Cool - does the weight actually reduce throw (ie short shift?)

Just wondering if I can do something with my mk4 6spd TDI box apart from fitting the kit Awesome sell?

Where the fore -aft pin is on the linkage, re-drill the lever and reposition the pin so it's closer to the centre.

I fitted a HPA motorsports shifter to Claire's R32 the other night, and other than a more hefty weight on it, that's all they have done, really.... for 120+ ;)

Not enough room to redrill a 5spd one, or thats what I would've done.

Ah ok - I'm half way there might stick a pic up tomorrow so you can clarify the bit....

I take it my existing shifter is ok (the gearstick side of things) - certainly is smooth, just too much travel...

Ok, here's a pic of my 6 spd lever...

Could someone kindly mark where the best place would be to drill/relocate the pin?

Also what size bit is needed and can it be done with a clamp and electric drill or do I really need to take it somewhere with a pillar setup?

    Thanks!
