I've just had a couple of sets of MK2 Golf/Early Corrado metal heater trims made up, perfect for LED backlighting [:D]
The manufacturer is Metal Monkey, who already make dial sets for many VWs, including the MK2 Golf 8v. They don't plan to offer these for general sale, rather through me due to the difficulties of opening up the slider panels, although depending how much interest I get they may change their minds! Have a browse through the site to get an idea of what styles are available, I wanted black originally but forgot to say so but bare alu is growing on me
These ones were supplied with clear backlight strips, you can get just about any colour you want, or you could use coloured LEDs, or make your own backlight film with the stock bulb or white LEDs :)

    Check it out: [8D]

The Corrado pannel will go into the Golf easily, you just have to make up a bracket to move the heater slider mech up. You can also pinch the 4 speed fan switch from the Rado, you need the switch, the wiring from the switch to the motor and the resistor. To fit to the Golf, just pop out the power feed pin from your old fan plug, fit to the Rado plug and fit the 4 speed resistor to the MK2 motor :)

Price for the heater sets is 20 posted, for this you get:
    metal inserts
    white diffuser panel
blue & red bit to go behind the hot/cold squares
    backlight colour of your choice:
    red, blue, green, aqua

Ok to make it easier for me & the suppliers, if you're interested can you replay with these details:

    1) Quantity
    2) Colour (Only silver (natuaral) or black are offered right now, but more will be added soon, course you could paint any colour you like!)
    3) Diffuser colour

To clarify, you'll get a set of metal trims, and a coloured diffuser backing. You'll have to split the panel and fit yourself, not a hard job though if you take your time :)
