I really need to find out if im looking into a problem that doesn't exist...as the title says...what does yours read once your car is at its normal operating temp?

    I'm getting distressed!

Thanks for your help in advance!

If worried about oil pressure, you shouldn't be running at 6k, surely?

VAG spec on most engines is 2bar @ 2000rpm hot

4+ bar you should be seeing at higher revs I would say.

To add to what GVK said
This what I observed when I added the turbo to the oil circuit.
G60 pump housing and ABF oil gears
First start up cold at 1800revs 5bar
    900r/min 1-1.1bar@100degC
    2000r/min 2.5bar @90degC
    3500r/min 3.7bar@90degC
    4000r/min 4.5bar@80degC
    Stays pegged at 4.5bar 4500+

Christ knows whats cauing this high figure then...ive so far changed, oil pump, filter, removed pressure relief valve from oil filter housing.. (checked to see if moves freely) still sky high.

have you compared the gauge reading from the other car? that is a huge amount of presure for a stock pump to be producing. have you changed anything that could affect the pump, pump drive etc?. sorry im not that familiar with the 1.8t engines.

you could try the pump from the leon in the golf

I have replaced the pump on the golf for a working on and checked the pressure relief valve to make sure it moved freely which it did...on both pumps old and new. Good idea to check the pressure on the leon tho aswell as a comparison, thanks for your ideas! This is driving me insane!

Have you checked the sensor matches the gauge?

Strange thing is I’ve see oil filter blow apart at a lesser pressure than that when the pressure relief valve has stuck

Does the oil filter look swollen at all?? And what’s the pressure when cold at rpm??

have you actually taken the front filter housing off of the block? perhaps the gallery to the valve is blocked inside? if you`ve got a small compressor handy just try blowing through the galleries.

saying that, why don`t you just stick an ITB 2.0 in it, you know it`ll be less hassle:p

There’s got to be something wrong with either one of the pressure gauges or the way it’s been tested, the pressure/rpm cold will always be more than pressure/rpm when hot because of the change in viscosity of the oil.

    strange one

Found the problem (well gms did) ! Actually no problem with oil pressure...measuring it in the wrong place...this is before the pressure relief valve in the filter housing. I have now tapped it in after...this is where the stock oil pressure switch sits....silly putting it anywhere else really, just assumed that all tappings on the filter housing where the same....

Thinking this is the place to measure the crank shaft oil pressure...[:s]

Anyway, i'm happier now! Doesnt explain the smoke tho sadly...possible turbo seals[xx(]

    Thanks for your help guys....
