Guys, Noticed today that on my EXP48 DTA box, the female serial connection is the same connection that a male monitor cable would fit into (but my monitor cable seems to have 1 pin missing on purpose...) Was wondering how i can splice my monitor cable into a spare 9 pin serial cable I have, anyone done this? Im assuming its a fairly easy task, just need to work out what pins go where, as on the DTA box there are 15 pins to the connection, and the serial cable only has 9 pins... Ta for any help
monitor ports and serial ports are totally different. serial or rs232 normally only use 3 or 4 pins. try maplin or cpc for connectors and leads
but its just the end connections that i need, a monitor cable connects to the connection on the side of the dta box, all i'd need to do is find the pins involved and wire them to the standard 9 pin serial cable, surely?
this might be of help http://www.quantums.info/injection.htm you could use a monitor cable just for the connector
Hi the dta serial cable only connects pins 1 thru 5 from one connector to 1 thru 5 on the other. Pin 1 to Pin 1, Pin 2 to Pin 2 etc. Click on the link for details of the DTA serial programming lead and rolling road Potbox. http://www.quantums.info/dtalead.htm
you can some times cut along the seal other times the plug is moulded onto the connector and almost impossible to get off it might be easier to get one from maplins http://www.maplin.co.uk/Module.aspx?TabID=1&ModuleNo=1310&doy=2m5
I made one for DarrenE recently. Used a D15pin monitor lead and cut of the other end and traced wires for TX and RX, 5v and gnd to D9 pin connector.
