hi all, joined on here a while since whilst looking for a mk2 gti last summer, never came to fruition due to insurance, so i ended up with a 1991 J polo GT, had that for a while and began to slowly modify it to my tastes then had a change of heart and bought this instead. some may recognise it from other forums, but i just thought i'd share the pics anyway. Enjoy.

That looks amazing, very nicely done. Done much work to it? Are they RM's?

it looks like theres a lot of camber on the rear wheels, is that standard?

    VERY nice looking mk1 tho.

Looks like it's a bit of a style thing like people do with their Beetles?

Looks great, love the wheels, quite a change from a little polo, bet your buzzing with it.

cheers for the replies fellas, yeah the rear camber (5.75 degrees) is mainly for styling purposes, plus it allows the 9" rears to legally fit under standard arches.

Genome, yes they are RM's, 8x15's frontal, and 9x15's at the rear, the spec is as follows,

    >Crossdrilled 280mm front discs
    >Supersport 120mm coilovers
    >Goodridge hoses
    >New powerflow upswept exhaust- lifetime garauntee
    >Cabrio anti roll bars
    >Crystal cross hair headlamps
    >Crystal indicators
    >Crystal rears with satin black surrounds
    >Shaved bootlid-solonoid wired to rear wiper stalk+key fob
    >Vitaloni mirrors
    >Very light window smoke / tint
    >Golf Rallye SE half leather trim front and rear
    >Momo G-02 steering wheel
    >Carbon gear knob+ handbrake
    >Sony active black motorised headunit with remote
    >Alpine sws 17.5 cm components
    >Blue LED dash illumination
    >Centre console with VDO Guages

there are a couple of things i'm not happy with that i'm hoping to get sorted over the summer, mainly the interior, the rallye se rear bench very poorly fits so hopefully i can sell the seats soon and get something more suitable. the rear lights and window tints scream chav to me personally so they are coming out/ off and being swapped and finally the engine...currently its running a 1.3 carb lump, and if all goes according to plan it will either soon be running a g40 supercharged lump or an original 1.6/ 1.8 gti engine. still unsure on how to take things forward.

anyone any suggestions/ comments? all welcome!

    cheers, J

cheers fellas :) was contemplating keeping the G60's as winter wheels but i've got my eye on some lancia delta integrales for knocking about on. We shall see if that goes through though!

Will update with pics when my new alloys turn up this weekend, have no pics as of yet but i really cant wait, they're only the second set the company has imported into the uk...so thats my bragging rights there

got some sparco corsa buckets and willians harness' lined up for the inside aswell as some lightweight false floor panels. At the mo its just a pair of rallyes, a lot of wiring and a strut brace

..then that just leaves the engine! was planning a cheeky g40/60 conversion or a 1.8 16v, but i'm tempted to keep the 1.3 and put twin webbers on...

all comes down to as usual so i will have to wait and see!

any comments are always welcome as are suggestions!

    cheers again fellas,

    John.
