FAO: 2.0L 8v converters - anyone got a pic of their plumbed in block-to-breather?

    I'm looking to plumb in the front breather on my 2.0L conversion (I've used an Audi 3A block) and was hoping to see a few pictures of other peoples efforts. I think the only photo I've seen so far is Setones with the boiler pipes :clap: and was hoping to see a few more. Specifically how to go about it using the bog standard PB rocker cover and flying saucer etc.

    Failing that, any comments on how you've done it and with which materials would be spiffy

    P.S Setone, I remember you commenting that you were going to redo your first effort, did you ever do so?

    pics of breather pipes, i used some 22mm copper pipe, left over from when i moved my boiler

    managed to do mine very neatly after abit of fiddling round.
    using pb rocker cover etc. pics to follow...

    setone everything looks mighty black in there what did you use on the rubber inlet duct etc?

    the pipe which is doing a u- bend type shape is 22mm copper pipe which i painted satin black, the pipe coming up from the bottom breather, is some electrical copex which i found at work and i used some rubber sleaving to join the 2.

    i use wd40 on all the black plastic's brings them up a treat

    i stuffed a rag in mine to start with, vince at stealth didnt really worry about it either. [​IMG]
    was looking at all sort of pipe and stuff getting really annoyed.
    Then I got the original mk3 breather pipe out (bottom pipe) and noticed it was about 1/2" copper pipe size..cut a bit off the top of the pipe and using a copper 1/2" T-piece which i braised extra 1" lengths of pipe on, bolted the whole lot together with jubilee clips. looks much better now and happy in the knowledge nothing will get pressurised!
    Car seems to go better now too. really has much more bite than the 1.8. the gf even said it and we were only going slow. it just feels more solid and potent if i can use that word.

    I've left it with a pretty OEM looking rubber stopper held on with a jubliee for the moment, i.e. blocked up. Not observed anything directly related to it being blocked, but like tinkering and thought I might try something on a par with Setones effort.

    I've used a coolant housing seal, bung and c clip, seems a perfect fit using genuine parts.

    This is how it looks at the moment. Still tidying and neatening things up, but lots of tweaking means it's not getting a proper spruce until I'm happy with it mechanically.

    surely it was meant to be plumbed in.
    otherwise they wouldnt have devised such a complex casing from the two holes in the block.

    i guess it hasnt been long enough to tell any lasting effects of either.

    its looking all good mookie does it go well?

    It was going like a true pocket rocket mate after I fannied about with the Colortune yesterday, until it went for it's re-MOT today and they totally messed up the fuelling. Now it's running like a bag of spanners and so I need to have another go myself.

    Here's my effort. 2E block with Pb rocker cover, but I used the round thing off the mk3 rocker cover.

    Is anyone running k-jet and a 2.0 bottom end? Does the extra breather get in the way of the WUR? I'm half way through building the block up now, but haven't decided whether to plate it up or use the mk3 breather.

    with the breather blocked up, you are more likely to suffer oil leaks.

    I've read that sort of observation before, but then I can't understand why TSR offer a plate to block it up? I've not noticed any oil leaks yet on mine, but I think if it's there it ought to be used properly tbh.

    Never heard that myself, whys that then? Maybe plumb mine in one day but more important things to sort on it first.
