Looking at buying an aluminium trolley jack, anyone have any experience with these?
Would like a low saddle height one, as the car is lowered. Not much on the internet in terms of reviews either.
Not looking to buy a 40 Kg 3 ton arcan XL30 either.;)

    Thinking about a Clarke CTJ1250A

Or a Michelin Aluminium 1.5 Tonne Racing Trolley Jack

    What do you guys think?

When those alloy jacks first appeared a couple of years ago, I was given one of by a company trying to persuade us to buy them for all our branches.

It was rated 2000kg and worked fine for a few weeks jacking up cars, but as soon as we jacked a transit up with it, it collapsed pi55ing all it's hyfraulic oil everywhere. I guess the transit was probably a little over 2t, but even so they should be safety tested to double their rated SWL.

I see since then they are only rating them at 1.5T!

I have the Clarke one. It's good (so far). Light and easy to manoeuvre. Lifts quickly and nice and low to get into those tight spots.

It works for me and doesn't damage the underside of my car unlike the previous heavy heap of sh*t.

We bought 2 of the 2 ton rated jack to lift the Superstox (650 Kg's) in the workshop and both were knackered within a couple of weeks. The same fault as Oli reported damaged seals and oil everywhere.
Now back to using the old faithful hydraulic jacks we've had for atleast 5 years.

I've looked at them, but didn't buy one because they don't lift high enough...

Reading through that lot, I won't be buying one either!

Bluepoint do really good ones. Pricey (about 150-200) but really good lift and I haven`t heard of any problems with them.
