Thought I should post up pics of my car and the way it has evolved over the years for those of you interested. I bought it as a 97 Mk3 GTi 16V in Black Magic Pearl in September 2004. The car has gone through many looks over this time but after making the decision to make it in to a track biased road car, the way the car looks now I am most happiest with.

No pics from when I bought it but the car has gone through several visual changes over the years (more front ends / bumpers and wheels than I care to remember)

The car now has had a few changes since these pics. I fitted a digital SPA oil / temp gauge on the A pillar, stripped out the dashboard and all interior trim. Central locking and leccy windows are next to go. I also have some bits due to arrive shortly from Demon Tweeks and my Polycarbonate windows have been ordered. I managed to pick up a few cosmetic injuries on the front left wing / wheel after a slight incident with a **** in a subaru at Knockhill late last year.

    Anyway, here we go...

Tried to keep them in chronological order.

Not long after I bought her. Vento front, smoked indicators etc. 17" BBS RX's as well

How she looked before taken off the road to do the engine conversion etc.

Thanks, I used to up until about a 2 - 3 months ago. I put 10k miles on it from the start of June to November. No dash etc meant it was going to be a nightmare with the cold weather and steaming / icing up so took the plunge and went for a daily / tow car.

Very nicely turned out car Martin. Spotted it straight away at the 'Ring and it stood out, clean, tasteful and clearly well put together.

Recaros and OZs top it off, and it sits well. Fit for purpose tbh

Thanks for the comments guys. It has been a lot of work for everyone involved but it is getting there slowly. Before the car was taken off the road as a daily it was too impractical for a road car and not quick enough for a track car.

The car was running on toyo road tyres but at the 'ring I surprised a few things. The closest battles were with an 3 series Alpina d3, and a few focus RS's which were quicker on the straight but all were passed.

At Knockhill I had a great battle with a clio williams 2 running track tyres, he was not very happy about getting passed. Need more power and lower gearing to get closer to the quicker machinery which will be happening this year.

I am very pleased with how the car handles and the back end is quite lively but controllable. It has Koni coilovers, Eibach arb's, polybushes and of course the strengthening of the cage and various strut braces. I have 312mm S3 brakes on the front (black diamond discs) with Ferrodo DS2500 pads. The only problem with the brakes was boiling the fluid but I received some Motul RBF600 in the post a few dyas ago so will have that fitted for the next one.

    Chris- very kind words, thanks.

Al- still have it, not finished. Have a fairly tweaked 1.3 to go in it and bought a GT donor car a few months ago for the close ratio box and high comp bottom end.

Hot Water- It is putting out 153bhp @ the wheels. Still a lot more to come. Will have to get some pics up of the head to go on.

    Thanks,

    Martin

Well some bits arrived in the post today so thought I would update the thread. Was out in the garage so I got some pics of the head etc waiting to go on as well, its quite a special one I managed to persuade a good friend to part with...

Love the new bonnet pins, nice bit of kit. Few other things as well.

Making my existing harnesses 6 point just in case.

Some new fluid as I had problems boiling mine on the track.

    New sparkle silver rocker cover.

To sit on top of this...
