Just bought a raceland tubular manifold and decat pipe via hot tuning on ebay... for my mk2 8v - 2.0l... My suspicions are its meant for a mk3 (with a cat obviously) although they ASSURE me it will fit a 2L in a mk2 chassis... (as per their listing) ... fingers crossed...

There are threads in both the decat and the manifold for oxygen sensors, obviously as the mk2 doesnt have them i need to block them up with a suitable bolt., Anyone know the size? or Anyone that sells them?

A spark plug will do a temporary job IIRC.

O2 sensors are usually M18x1.5mm thread size -

    spark plugs are generally M14x1.25

 Dat was my next trick!

I was thinking of the bigger-sized spark plugs - think they fit, but it was an emergency tip, tbh [:s]

Got 2 x bosses recently, but never seen them sold - came via engine place.

Btw, for welding lamda bosses in, some lorry wheel nuts have same thread... Cut in half, weld in. Bizarre!

Spark plugs from the old Ford 'pinto' OHC will fit, pretty sure they were 18mm

Bildon sell the bosses on their site , bit extreme to get just them sent from the states eh!!

    Thanks chaps....

The manifold does have one bunged boss up the top (much smaller thread - m6 - m8? guess) I thought this was possibly for the bracket to hook it up to the inlet manifold, as per the original iron lump of chod. Its in a pretty similar place to the vr6 jobbie pictured.....

The ones I'm talking about are at the base of the manifold near the flange, on the manifold and also near the flange on the decat....

Cant honestly say I ever owned a ford so dont have any pinto plugs kicking around, cheers for the tip though.

I wonder is screwfix sell m18 bolts?

Any WHAT IS A FLAMER KIT? Anything that frightens small children and old ladies sounds VERY cool in my book!!

Do you remember Lax Power back in the days of Novas and Mk2 Astras? They would be shooting flames out of the exhaust? They were flamer kits.

Basically a sparkplug screwed into the exhaust (near the tailpipe) that when fired up would ignite the unburnt fuel on the overrun. Dead cool...[8-}]

Don`t even think of fitting one to your Golf, as it will result in you being banned from VW ownership, and, everyone from here going round your house to point and laugh! ;)

HAHA I see, although yes incredibly stupid and pointless and without wanting to look like a novachav, astrachav or corsachav, If say a freind of mine were to wire up a spark plug to his raceland exhaust manifold instead of using a blanking plug, would I (he) still get the same effect since the spark plug is in the manifold, not the tail pipe?

Probably not. You...sorry, HE would end up doing some serious damage to the manifold.

Thought so... my mate wont be bothering with that then...

Just fitted the manifold by the way... minus the blanking plugs. Went in an absolute treat. Perfectly spaced between the power steering pipes and the bulkhead. Even with the extra height on the 2E block. Suprised and very happy with the fit...
