Just finished my new engine build and in the process of running it in, any thoughts on who I should get to map it when it's done, I don't mind travelling for quality. Engine spec is: GT3071R Tial 38mm wastegate Flowed large port head with Supertech inconel valves, titanium retainers etc. 82.5mm Wossner pistons Scat rods Ross machine racing manifold with Mustang 75mm TB 630cc injectors Aeromotive FPR Bosch 044 fuel pump Any recommendations much appreciated.
I was happy with my DTA map that was done at Stealth, all be it on a fairly standard engine. Also heard good things about Alan Greenald (spelling may be incorrect!)
I've been looking into this too, stumbled across Steve Greenald. Now I'm not even sure he's still doing it but by all accounts he was the man. Plus he's only down the road from me in Rainham. Bit far for you unfortunately I'll be calling them pretty soon so if it is of interest to you I'll keep you posted. Oh and I just googled the name Steve Greenald and dta to find alot of praise for the man
Stealth do a lot of DTA, they've just done my 16v turbo, although mine's currently only on a run in map. Highly recommended by me and many others.
vince @ stealth has probably done more dta 1.8t's than most. he will be able to start with a good base map from his experience and dial in.... quicker than someone starting from scratch.
Cheers for the replys, I had my original map done by Vince when I had an APY engine in a MkII Golf. That's the map I'm using at the moment to run it in. The only problem with Stealth is that they only have 2WD rolling road, may just have to remove the rear section of the prop and take it there.
Na which 4WD system are you running? When we did the rallye on Vince's RR we just removed the rear drive shafts.
Give Dave Griffiths a call at Interpro, Thornbury - only down the road from Bristol. He's mapped mine for the last 8 years on KO3 and IHI, did M.Reeves 20v in the early days along with Mark Eliot's old Mk1 and more recently his Tvr 3000m turbo - all on DTA
Following on from this post http://clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=216897 Are there any more recommendations not just for the 20v but mapping in general? Chris MC mentions "track and road" but these are Essex based http://www.tracknroad.com/
My brother had his dta mapped by a random place to start with. After a while he had a few issues with idle and cold starts and as he was never entirely convinced by it he took it to TracknRoad for a tune up as they were the place recommended by dta. He gained a good few horses and a bit of torque across the range and reckoned the map was way better than the first had ever been. I seem to remember him being impressed by the guys there too. If i ever need any work doing on my map i know where i'll be going.
Steve Greenald at Track & Road is justifiably known as the best mapper of DTA in the country. Anyone who is serious about an optimized DTA map should go see him! He took one look at the first map (done by Vince @ Stealth) on my itb'd 16v then started again with his own base map. Enough said. Power curve was superb after he was done! 193bhp/148lbs/ft. No "quote me happy" figures or sales patter. Just superb mapping. Very highly recommended. Take your wallet with you though
Wayne (Chipwizard) did my 20vt DTA mk2 some years ago when he operated from Dubsports (who?!) premises. Good job, no need to take back for tweeks.
See this thread, need to change the intercooler but still haven't got round to it! http://clubgti.com/forum/showthread.php?t=180308
