    What he said.......

    lol

If you want more power then what you get now, try the usual CAM, Zorst, Webber, or buy a faster car!! :p

Saying that, mine is pretty quick for what it is! :)

I have a full GTI 8V system and manifold I am possibly going to get rid of. If you are interested then I will let you know if I make my mind up!

I had mine on the rolling road and was very suprised at the outcome.

Yeah they do but you need to change the manifold. Its a bit of a bugger, but can be done. I would do mine but I am looking at getting a Carrado so the Golf will probably be for sale soon.

    Will let you know!

i put a weber on mine, gti cam (now thinking of putting a mk3 2.0 8v camshaft in though), 4-2-1 manifold and system (miltek and piper) 1.8 bottom end (GU) and an 8v gti gearbox for faster ratios. now thinking about a dizzy off a mk1 cab (or any k jet engine with a vac advanced dizzy, as these are suppose to work well with the camshaft.)

was going to say i'be got a cam and a weber sitting her being used as door stops, but it seems you've got one already..

i've your serious about more poer but dont want to go engine change route etc i could seriously suggest using a megasquirt or megajolt ignition setup. would give you much smoother idle with any cam and full 3d realtime mapping without the need for a rolling road. it is however about 200 all in.

    Hi,

I'm pretty much in the same position as OP except I have a blank slate in front of me.

I've ordered the K&N replacement for the standard air filter if that's what he meant by K&N panel filter as opposed to some crazy airbox mod.

Are there any other easy and reversible mods that can be done for extra power? For example, could this be done to a MK2 Driver?

What about the fat foamy air intake hose that goes from the NS engine bay wall to the airbox? Can anything be done to that to enhance performance? I find it kind of weird that it's plugged into the wall where there's not really any airflow at all.

I'm guessing the next step up would be a Weber. How difficult is this to fit/tune/maintain? I'm guessing if I install it I'd have to use a manual choke?

I might be tempted to take the Weber off your hands, Adam, if you can beat Garry's price.

How hard is it to change the cam?

[Note to mods: Is my previous post in this thread still floating around in Awaiting Moderation space or is it gone?]
