Looks different and not a bad conversion, looks-wise.

Detest chequer plate, but that's me.

Does it have any shell strenthening though? That missing roof can't be doing wonders....

Saw the wagen for sale on the bay few years back.

I think its quite cool, needs a VR or 20VT conversion tho.

MK2 Golf GTI 16v converted to a pick up. I bought this about a year ago from a guy in Cornwall who had it build by a local company who specialise in Hot Rods and Customs. As you can see from the photos the rear has been cut off and a rear bed constructed from check plate including a lockable rear deck lid on rams. Remainder of tailgate has been welded in place and a half roll cage added outside which stiffens the shell and looks quite trick too. It also has the ‘WAGEN’ part of a MK1 Caddy tailgate grated into the rear panel just above the bumper.

    BASIC SPEC –
1989 F plate 16v Gti (was originally white)
    Standard engine with recon box
    Scorpion exhaust
    Koni top adjustables
    Electric Recaro seats
    RS4 replicas
    Debadged grille
    Big bumpers
    Etc Etc
MOT till Aug 09 No Tax on SORN

I bought this as a project (2.0 TDI engine, Porsche paint & wheels etc) but I just cant find the time. Added to that I have just got hold of a genuine 29k ’77 MK1 which is now in the garage so the pick up will have to go as I have probably only driven it a dozen times !!

Does have a few bits that need attention but nothing major (it is nearly 20 years old !!)
Steering is really heavy, maybe just me as I drive newer stuff with P/S but I am including a full power steering set up in the sale.
Runs a bit hot but doesn’t overheat so probably just the thermostat sticking or something simple.
Doesn’t run the greatest so could do with setting up properly as it is a bit gutless and the MOT guy said it was running a bit lean.
Paint work is OK but definitely not show standard !! It has a few cracks here and there and a scrape on one of the rear quarter panels, and no I don’t know what the colour is other that its very yellow !! I was going to respray it anyway but plans change !!
Probably a few other niggles as well but it is old.

Anyway price, well it owes me probably getting on for 3k so that can be the starting price but I am willing to listen to offers, part ex's (dubs only) swaps or even interesting parts, especially MK1 stuff. I can even change the spec a bit, ie sell minus wheels or seats. Located in Bournemouth.
