I'm in the process of putting my carbs on (at last) just wondering those of you running a chopped standard manifold, what did you do with the servo vacuum?

Theres some kind of plastic pipe on the top of my carbs - don't know if it'll create a vacuum though?

hi if your using a chopped down manifold just tap into the original vacuum take off on that, im running mine like that just fine. the one on the bike carbs is probley just a breather, mine have 2 just left open.

Or have I got the wrong end of the stick?

i cant remember what connects to it now? but it just connects all four inlet runners together so should be pulling a vacuum across all four cylinders, at least i hope as im running mine this way! when i disconnect mine while its running you can hear it sucking in air so there must be vacuum????

    This outlet creates no vacuum.

    Anyone else?

what did you do with the injector holes, this is probably why that port has no vacuum

Ahh I see, they're blocked with 1p pieces, I'll just have to tap the mani and plumb my own in.

So how are you managing to stop, gunit-84...?

I'd imagine what he has done is blocked the inj holes off in a way that the vac port doesnt end up blocked. How have you capped off the 5th inj housing? if you made a wee plate, find yourself a kr 42mm or 9a 5th injector housing, this has a vac fitting on the side. I may even have one in my 16v bits box!

Would the 5th injector be part of the lower manifold? I'm not sure I know what you mean? Would my 50mm mani not have had one?

doh its on the upper manifold, silly me
gearbox drain/filler plugs fit in the injector holes apparently, you could fit one of those drilled n tapped for a vac fitting

    [:p]

I've thought about using one of the injector holes, but would this not cause some kind of imbalance in the carbs?

heh doh x2, the 5th inj is in the lowe manifold, but I see your carby manifolds is cut down past it

as for the imbalance, not really a great deal you can do about that unless you somehow open up the vac nipple mentioned above to all 4 ports by changing how you block em off...
