Slightly off topic form the other head gasket thread so thought id start a new one

are 6a 9a and abf gaskets all the same i can get a reletively cheap ABF steel gasket thats good quality, it would be for a 6a block with a KR head (i know the KR gaskets are different and not reccomended on the 2.0li blocks

    thanks

earlier 9a/6a gaskets are fibre, later are steel as per abf. short answer: yes, use the abf gasket :)

I just picked up my 9A head gasket from VAG but stupid me forgot to order the steel
9a/abf one and i have a composite one.

    pn 048 103 383 B

Does it matter? OR should i swap it for a steel.

Just compared the old 1.8 gasket with the new supposed 9a gasket and the 9a does look maybe up to a 1mm bigger all the way round. how much bigger should the bore size be?
