Well the time has come for the 2.1L 16V Build. So time for the 2.1L 16V Build ABF Block bored to 83.5mm (2036cc) Integrated Engineering 159mm H- Beam Rods ARP Main Studs ARP Head Bolts ARP Crank Studs Eurospec Crank 92.8mm 83.5mm Forged Pistons (JE Pistons) and need to decide on the rest of the shopping list.
Have you checked the con-rods in the old engine to check they haven't gone oval at the large end, or that they're not slightly bent? BTW, I spent a few quid with Integrated Engineering last week - thanks for the recommendation. I mentioned your name too.
The ones i'm gont to use are Brand new con rods i got last month from Integrated Engineering last month, all the ARP Gear is new too. I'm just waiting for Pete @ Int to get back to me with a piston price, don't think they can do JE in the spec i want but i think they do Mahle. Which pistons did you go for Mike ? The ones that went today were standard rods and pistons, Nige P blew three pistons today a Donny Track day so he wants my old Pistons, like you say don't know if the rods will be any good to him but i have a few more spares.
Found Autotech Cranks http://www.autotech.com/prod_engine_crank.htm waiting for JE 83.5mm pistons prices e-mailed a few people. Eurospec one looks a good pirce. http://www.mjmautohaus.com/catalog/...aft_Performance_100mm_Stroke&products_id=2053
Just sourced a Eurospec Crank from Neal H Cheers Neal will fit the ABF Trigger wheel straight to it. Just Pistons now to get.
Just need the Pistons now. Looking for JE Pistons 83.5mm 10.5 :1 comp, waiting for a few prices back. Going to drop the block off tomorrow for the 83.5mm bore.
Why the low CR? Is it for a forced induction engine with stacked gaskets, or does NOS work better on a 'normal' CR?
Is your trigger wheel an internal (o.e) type ?...if it is, DONT FIT IT !.... they can explode and make a bid for freedom via a new hole in the block. Only use an externally mounted trigger wheel for peace of mind & wallet.
Cheers for that, i do already have a 36-1 trigger fitted external as i was going to run an EDIS Unit, so think that will be a good idea. Mike - i'm going standard compression with the Nitrous set up i'm running.
Just order the Crank sensor bracket and Dizzy balnk plate from Eurospeed as detailed in the kit below.
need to get it running and run in asap, missed all last year's racing due problems and don't want to miss this year. I hate running it in thou, up and down the A1 @ 50MPH Behind a wagon , did it twice last year only to find a different problem.
I read some interesting views on here on running in. In summary, it was that the best way to bed in rings is to decelerate from about 60mph in 3rd, using the pressure on the overrun to bed them in quickly. I'm not sure that long gentle running does much.
