So, plans are to build a rotisserie. remove whats not required.

Vag Doctor custom loom for the AEB engine and alight weight complete re wire.Strip the VR6 box and put all the gubbins includng the peloquin into a G60 box.

Still debating over mk2/3 wide track conversion as i have the parts and it would save some money and allow easy PAS, big brakes and ARBs etc aswell as the MO's. Again the rear axle will be looked at when she's been turned.

Want to go Berg. Wide track front and rear. Light weight panels and Big power.....eventually.

    Progress today.

Engine and box out. All wiring out. Stripping the TAR stuff off the floor plates etc. Rotisserie being built tomorrow so should be able to check out the underside soon.

Debating the front end now. Love infinity's build, has given me a few ideas and confirmed what i had in my mind re the floor mounted pedal box and rear diffuser. There will be plenty of ali in this build!

Tried to PM you, but your inbox is full. Was the roll cage home brew, or supplied/fitted by a 3rd party?

3rd party. T45 tube, smaller diameter. Braced in all the right places. Got to do the front when i decide how it's going. Unfortunately the company has asked me NOT to publisise there work as there to busy! 40 new M3's to cage up for silverstone racing school [xx(]

Gary....yes my friend. After the disapointment of the mk2 vr never really getting there i'm doing it properly from the start. Got loads of the mk2 vr left over so i'll use as much as i can in this build to keep costs down.

OK more today but i've misplaced my lead to my phone so no pics to put up at the Mo.

Got all that tar off the floor panels today. Rotisseries in build. TD5's finished!

    Looking good

What method did you use for removing the tar off the floors? I've just started doing mine and still unsure of the best way to do it.

Heat gun, scraper and thinners to remove the bitumen residue.

That's the method I always hear about, but I have heard as well that you can freeze the stuff by putting ice on it, then chip it away and it doesn't leave any residue, which sounds like a lot less work.

You think its less work than covering the floor pan with ice?

Not to bad doing it this way. Residues marginal. It's the glue that they used to stick the tar pads down.

Petrol gets the residue off and you get wasted as a bonus doing it!

Rotisseries nearly finished. Pics when shes up off the deck.

    Ok progress again today.

We cut the front suspension off [xx(] . Genuinely felt a little sick after that!

Cleaned up the area and removed all the surplus steering rack brackets etc. Again no rust so this shells a good'un.

Going to graft the mk3 subframe mounts onto the floor pan. After a lengthy discussion, i feel that this is the best way, out of the other 4 ways, of putting a subframe into a mk1. It will look factory, it will cut out alot of guess fab work and with a bit of skill[8D] full welding with the uber mig it will be strong.

Anyone got a syncro rear end they don't want?
