    GT2871R on small hotside. (0.6x)
stock bore/stroke, Mahl motorsport pistons, Scat rods, full supertech valvetrain including springs/retainers, ported smallport head.
FFE/Badger5 manifold, T25 right hand drive friendly tubular manifold, 3" full downpipe (no squeazes), 100cell cat, my old 007 largeport mani and R32 t'body.

Next step is building it a decent FMIC kit.

quattro so everything is tight *as* clearance wise..

neglected badgerwagen in the background - too busy to touch it - booo

Very nice Bill, i wonder how tight is going to be round the back with that manifold and turbo up top

That is something i want in future once/if my jabba manifolds cracks or turbo gets tired

I wonder if that downpipe could be made to meet my existing 3" pipewerx

I'l see if i have any pics of my intercooler set up to refresh your memory of space available and fittment

more room when turbo it top mounted, which is why i do them. downpipe is'nt compromised nor is intake. it can be made to suit any exhaust. this one is miltek s3 system i am mating it to.

my ibiza setup would fit the owens unit you run. i used to run IHI flanged remember.

A narrow angle merge collected manifold will outflow a convergent mani like JS & others, so your spec should shift a lot of air. No runners blowing at each other, only focused into the turbo's inlet.

    regards
    bill

I have tried heatwrap, and it does'nt last.. turns to glass, shrinks and falls off, whilst also taking up space I dont have in this instance.
zirconium sprayed manifold is'nt cheap no, but it works superbly for heat reduction under the engine bay and other close proximity components like packed into a 1.8t
wish it was cheaper also, but I dont like heatwraps durability. you would never be able to wrap this in situ, and the effort in doing it again in 12 months outweighs the vs time to remove this and start over.

I always thought your A3 would be alot better with a tubular manifold Sambo , would reduce your ETG'S too.

i had a lad round the other day for a re-fill and he was running a TT with a similar manifold from ANOTHER Supplier but he said that since he got rid of the JABBA Manifold his ETG'S had reduced greatly.

flow is important, narrow angle merge collector, not what is possible with most cast manifolds, which are essentially adaptions on std manifolds.
Top mount any day for me when going BT. so much nicer downpipe, and intake pipework, no nasty elbows, and on 4wd its a lot more roomy. They can flow so much more, which when you break out of boggo IHI VF34 zone, is a very significant factor to making good power, and not creating a heat pump.

Wondering if that TT had a manifold made by a company who's name ends with S

    :)

Hmm think you could be right

He's running standard head and cams so very restricted power now until he changes them. He ran a 11.80 1/4 at York on Sunday with room for alot of improvement.

That's why i think Sambo's engine is alot better spec and has more potential than the TT, but Sam is limited by the Manifold and Turbo.

It will all be sorted very soon, later this year i guess

Dont think turbo is limiting factor as its good for circa 460 bhp which i'm happy with for the time beign, but manifold and downpipe are, poor flow more heat

Bill, would you be able to pm me some prices regarding exh manif options as well as turbos?

    target 500 hp or so

if your turbo is the highest spec Owens one, then I know it can produce >500bhp as thats what the leon racecar is producing with it, but the manifold and turbo have been changed to run external gate, which you should really consider when pushing these power level.

Not entirely sure what spec it is, remember dan saying its goog for 460 hp, will speak to O.D. to find out

I deffo want external wastegate, if im keeping this turbo i can block internal w.gate off

Is that your own make exh manifold?

Can a suitable flange be welded to tubular manifold to suit my turbo?

Yes this is my own design of manifold, and the flange could be adapted to suit IHI style fitment... like my ibiza race manifold is/was (Now T3 on mine)

Bill, I am interested in one of your manifolds with the ceramic coating IHI flange for the owens 3076 hybrid and externally wastgated. Please could you give me a price for this and how long would it take.

Also is it easy to covert a internally wastegated turbo to a external one.

    Thanks bill.
