Hi all, I've looked everywhere but can'y seem to find the correct info, please help. I've got a new omex 200 ecu and i'm using the std crank trigger. The omex has a shielded 2 core wire for the crank trigger but the plug for the crank trigger has 3 connections! Which wire goes to which terminal and what is the third one for?
I woud imagine the third wire is for the earthing point of the sheilded cable. The other two cables i cannot help with, sorry.
Hi Philip, screen is outher sheathing which is grounded It wont allow any unwanted interfeerance to get through and get mixed with signal generated from your crank sensor Its basically a coil with magnet in front of it, that reads teeth on crank wheel, kinda digital, 0-1-0-1-0-1-0-1 Ecu needs this signal as clean as poss Now that you know which pin is ground, wire the other two wires any way you want If it revs past 4k rpm cleanly you got them right, if it wont rev cleanly than swap them round, job done
ABF = Hall. Wired just like a KR 16v/8v digi dizzy. You need Gnd (pin 1), Signal return (pin2) and 12/5v (pin 3) to run. Noise shield is tapped from pin 1. 1.8T and VR6 = VR trigger on pins 2 (ECU vr+ and 3 (ECU vr-). Pin 1 on these is a noise shield only shares no connection to pins 2 and 3.
The crank trigger is a new one from E-bay.... Not sure which type it is, the ad was correct for the type of engine and year. How can I tell which type it is, can I check the resistance within it across the pins in the plug. Thanks all for your input.
