gti cam in mk3?

    a friend of mine bought a gti cam from a mk2 for his 1.6 8v driver a year ago and never fitted it

    i can get it for free and was wondering if it would work in a mk3 golf 1.8 8v GL ? the engine llooks the same to me

    It will fit, most of the mk3 SPi models have mk2 carb cams. It may have the wrong charachteristics to allow the ECU to go into closed-loop Lambda feedback mode tho...

    If I were to fit it , how would that effect the car? Would it not run right?

    wtf is closed-loop Lambda feedback mode anyways

    It's an operating mode of the ecu where it adjusts the mixture to get the lambda probe (exhaust gas) where it shoud be. It's an MOT requirement that it works in this mode.

    Bump. Did you swap the cam in the end?
