I've recently been building a few looms for various vw's thought I'd share some photo's:thumbup:

The first one I did was for Vento VR6 race car, and another currently doing very well at Castle Combe[:*:]

Second, a rather tasty Mk1 Golf sporting a 3000cc 24v V6 on ITB's, forge pistons and Shrick cams. In this one I did a full custom lighting and engine loom, all designed for a minimal look in the engine bay:)

    Running DTA S80 ECU

Getting new plugs and pins for these was a nightmare:lol:

    The almost finished product....

Another quick one was battery re-location in a Audi S3, the guy wanted the battery moved to the rear of the car so they could install a water injection system to decrease the charge temperature further, a very quick car this! Audi S3 running a 20v with a Garret Gt28 Turbo, steel bottom end and Supertech Valves. Power output is in the region of 380bhp iirc.

Next wiring project was a R32 conversion in a Mk3 Golf, running DTA S80 engine management.

This one I've built to use the vw coil on plugs coil packs for that stock look! And I don't mean the one where your on the side of the road with the bonnet up, hopefully they will prove to be fairly reliable. The only thing left to do is sort out the Auxillary outputs to vary the inlet tract length and have the car mapped, hopefully it will be finished completely by the end of next week:thumbup:

Do you not mean the S3?

I thought the Mk3 looked quite clean, I've just got a last bit of tidying to do in the Mk3 as far as wiring.

As for the S3 it's running on all the stock sensors, has been for around 15,000 miles all completely reliable. Sadly you sacrifice the clean look. The owner has added a few extra ducts also to aid the cooling.

    Thanks :)

Not really sure mate, that mk1 was a BIG job, literally took weeks all in all. I'm just building up my knowledge before maybe starting to do it as a bit of a sideline. I suppose it would all depend on how custom the loom needed would be, for length and then maybe extra for a 6cyl engine.

It can be very time consuming gathering all the parts and then building it up. Would really like to do the looms with all brand new connectors and terminals but sourcing a place to supply all these plugs is proving very difficult, especially all the modern vag plugs. The Junior power connectors are easily available tho.

My next project will probably be my mates split camper van, split charge system and all that. Looking forward to doing that one.

I've managed to get the connector bodies but unable to find the terminals on their own...not without a length of wire attached as a repair kit. I did manage to find the terminals for the bodies elsewhere tho! Unless you know different mate? I can't find them in the parts catalogue.

Wasn't requested, two wires....if it's that important? The S80 has another two spare axillary outputs if needed.

Wow wiring is the one thing on cars that mystifies me and you have turned it into an art form.

I rather do a clutch than try and find an electrical fault.

Nice to work on some interesting cars as well
