Following the discussion over differences between the Mk5 GTI engines (200 = 230 bhp - click), slightly moving the topic on, I did a quick search on EA888 and EA113 - engine designations for the Mk5 GTI, Mk6, Edition 30, Scirocco, Audi A3 & S3 (+ a mountain of others, Seat/Skoda no doubt). EA113 (old one, belt driven): EA888 (new one, chain driven): Quote found: aka stronger block? Interesting VWoA self study manual on the EA888 here Paper on the EA888 crankcase here
great find chris this will explain the rocco R power outputs. suppose to be lighter assembly aswell. Looks well braced with the 2 piece sump.
Scirocco R, Golf R and new leon Cupra will use the EA113 engine, not the EA888, although it will be slightly reworked to solve a few of the issues it has i believe.
