As some of you may or may not know Im making a 16v cylinder head from scratch, Ill be starting the full thread hopefully soon once I get a few things dealt with.
This has brought me on to further things/parts that could also be cast too.
Ive got two smelters made now, one large, one small.
The small one can melt 1.25l of A356(al alloy) which is an ideal volume for small runs.

Now, my questions I want to put out there are what else could one make in the line of uprated/improve parts?

The main ones that come to mind are,

Water flanges to replace leaky plastic ones.
Engine mounts needed to fit x engine to y car.
    ''Cool'' rocker covers.
    Carb manifolds.
    ITB manifolds.
    Engine brackets in General.
    G60 stuff.

Im not interested in thinking about items associated with brake calliper adaptors or wheel spacers.
Milled Billet 6061 T6 is better suited to these items for various reasons.

So what springs to mind if you have everything needed to cast anything?

This IS NOT an advertisement for fabing parts, do not contact me via pm, I just want to see how people feel about the whole thing and what they would want to see made or feel could be up-rated.

If it happens that certain parts become popular or whatever then I will contact Chris Eyre with details on how to go about selling them on here so we can all enjoy the benefits.

Now bare in mind that for every part a timber or foam pattern has to be made In order to strike the sand castings off them.
Taking that into account if you wanted a bracket to fit an Audi engine to the glovebox of a Polo there wont be a lot of call for them even if you REALLY need one.
So, maybe something that 10+ can be cast to make pattern making worth while.

I really dont know how it will pan out, I just putting this out there to judge feed back as I think its a pretty useful set-up the fact that anything can be made.

Thanks for any commets Folks, Ill be keeping an eye on this:thumbup:

    Brian.

Can't think of anything right now, but it sounds like a brilliant thing to have a go at.

I am loving the fact that you are going to make a cylinder head - top man!

Whats the weakpoint of a performance VW? The gearbox. Anyone who has driven a Civic Type R will know how good a box can be. It would be great to have a bellhousing and the right mounts to fit a CTR box into a Mk2/3 golf.

At 130euro? a pop and pretty easy to get I dont think they would be worth while? I dunno? Are they gone scarce or are they still off the shelf parts?

Its not really a money thing as such, more bringing parts otherwise hard got or non-existent to people, if you get me, and make a few quid...
Just checked there bar tek dont seem to have them, where the hell did I see them..[:s]

    Found them http://www.bar-tek-tuning.de/G60+Auslassbogen+180-.htm

Wait wait:lol: I have to get it all layed out and ''nice'' before I start anything, the thread will be started with my drawings, then making smelter, crucible, foam moulds, timber moulds, making the sand mix, planning mould, building mould, pouring, milling, finishing etc, its a lot, and I have to make sure I have everything sorted and presentable OK:lol:
Then, ya can sit back an have a read Chris:thumbup:

Suspension stuff ranks very high on the tuv list, so in order to sell those parts they would have to be tested independently which costs a ****load, only then could I sell them. A disclaimer isent enough to cover me there. Actually, engine parts rank pretty low on the list.
    From memory its,
Brakes, suspension, fuel system, lighting, and connector(s) designs.
I could make them of course, but Not sell them incase you had a non related crash and they spotted my parts. But having said that, I dont know where the above list features in a track car?

id be very wary of selling bits that may fail and hurt people ...not worth any amount of for the trouble it could cause you
