Cool The ClubGTI.com - SeatCupra.net 'Ring Tour 2010, 6-9 Aug.. Event reports p14 =>

.
It's here!

The 'Ring Tour 2010

*** 6 - 9 August ***

Friday to Monday

(some will arrive in the few days before)

------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

The eighth-consecutive running of the now-legendary Summer trip
to drive and socialise at the best race track in the World.

Be part of the UK's biggest VAG Nurburgring trip.

50 people last year, and this year we're expecting even more.

(images are thumbnail clickable)

2009 trip comments:

Nordschleife track opening times....

Wednesday 4 August: 5:15pm until 7:30pm
Thursday 5 August: 5:15pm until 7:30pm

Friday 6 August: 5:15pm until 7:30pm
Saturday 7 August: 8:45am until 7:30pm
Sunday 8 August: 8:00am until 7:30pm

Not just track, but it's a four-day social....

Friday curry night in the Burgstube
(alternative foods available)
Saturday in the famous Pistenklause restaurant
Sunday finale night in the Pistenklause

... and for those arriving early, Thursday night will be a meal out too

(images are thumbnail clickable)

...and everyone gets involved

There is beer to be drunk....

And the cars you'll see are out of this world...

Treat yourself to petrolhead nirvana....

Think 'Top Gear'. There's something, for everyone

But no caravans.

Where do I sign?

1) Accomodation

Hotel

Group-booking discounts at the Burgstube hotel have again been arranged.

Single room rate: €42.50 / €40 per room, per night for 4 or more nights

Twin/double room rate: €82.50 / €77.50 per room, per night for 4 or more nights
(ie €41.25 / €38.75 per person, per night)

Triple room rate: €100 / €95 per room, per night for 4 or more nights
(ie €33.3 / €31.7 per person, per night)

Quadruple room rate: €130 per room, per night
(standard rate)

Pension €37.50 (standard, pp), €35 (for 4 or more nights, pp)

This will require a deposit,
but you have to spend, to save.

Bear in mind that these rooms will sell out ** because it is the DTM weekend **
so you're advised to book up (irrespective of where you stay, hotel-wise)
as they will be gone.

We've been running these trips long enough to appreciate the panic of June/July accomodation searching!

Contact: 0049 (0) 170 8080256

http://www.burgstube.com

It's not a case of paying Club GTI or any one individual,
(that would be a nightmare for someone)
- everyone pays direct.

Camping

There is a very good campsite,
a very short distance away from the centre of Nurburg:

http://www.camping-am-nuerburgring.de/Anfahrt.html

It's beyond a comfortable walking distance, but is no more than a 5 minute drive
and has served many very well over the years (see FAQ link, below).
First come, first served, space has never been an issue.
Fantastic campsite guide/tips here.

2) Ferry

There are countless discounts to be had.

Get in early - discussions and links will come up on the thread.

3) Passport, petrol, car keys

Pick up all the information you'll need from this thread as it develops, and from previous year's threads

...safe in the knowledge all the guidance you'll need is here - and simply turn up.

We can arrange the restaurant bookings, offer all the advice we can, and set up a great trip.

Safety thread - here

(we make a great time of it - but we always stress safety).

Ah yes ... but is 250 bhp enough? Are the Porsche GT3's going to be suitably embarrassed?

Power in a partially stripped out MK2 is nothing without control.
Lets hope everything goes according to plan, else it is back to the prep'd backup car.
This date has been approved by "she who must be obeyed" so I am coming regardless.

Don`t shoot the messenger. This IS FACT from the marshalls meeting last week.

Quote:
I think the most relevant points to visitors will be:

Everybody:
• Stupid parking (i.e. any parking not in a clearly marked place) will be rewarded with a 100% guaranteed winning ticket to pick your car up from an exciting location in Adenau. This means verges, over kerbs, abandoned next to mates cars which aren't moving etc in Adenau and around the ring...
• Parking capacity will be expanded before season begins to match the above enforcement
• No change to basic rules - no vids, no paid taxi laps, etc...

Modded cars:
• Bonnet pins are now TOTALLY verboten. Even if covered with tape or rubber. It's flush mount or standard bonnets only
• Interior trim - NO sharp edges or even tatty-looking 'rip outs' will be tolerated. You must have door cards installed, you can't leave shin-breaking metal beams uncovered under your dash.
• Roll bars and cages must be padded where your body will hit them. This will be checked more.
• Expect more TüV time - this is where a Meister guy from the the standards body here in Germany spends time at the gate spot-checking for safe and unsafe cars. This can only be a good thing provided the decisions are consistent.
• Home made stuff, cages, spoilers and the like are now a big nono.
• Harnesses are to be mounted in the original seatbelt mounting points only, if they are on the cage or on a rear beam, that has to be a specifically designated harness mounting point and it should say so from the manufacturer of the cage.
• noise limit still 95dBa, measured at 1 meter & 45 degrees. Fail this and you go will NOT be allowed on track under any circumstances.
• also 3 static microphones at the side of the track measuring as you drive past, these will be directly linked to the office.
Big discussion about it on Northloop, but this has been confirmed by ALL the marshalls who were given this input by the ring management last week. Regardless of the `its a road and road rules apply` argument. Its their track and they WILL be imposing these rules.

Better knowing now, so you can do something about it rather than when you get there

Last year the same applied about the dash..... I got away with it (I'm not saying you will though).

I ensured there were not sharp bits to stab my self in the event of a crash.

This year I will be doing the same, although this year I will be giving it a matt covering- the reflections onto the screen weren't funny.........
