Been offered a 2l 8v bottom end from a 1997 caravelle, low miles, low money. The engine code is AAC - anyone know if this is any use or is it going to have daftly low compression pistons? As standard apparently they only put out 84hp, which makes me wonder - but it does have tiny inlet mani runners, a cat, etc which might explain part of that. Never bought an engine from a caravelle/transporter, it might be a cheap source of 2l bottom ends if it's basically the same as a standard 2l 8v one. Anyone have a clue?

Nah, presuming it's the pistons that make it low comp and not the head, I couldn't be arsed - when you can do a 16v turbo for the same money.......
Might ring him and make him a 25 offer for the whole engine, see if he wants it shifted. It has a CO pot like the G60 engines though, so there's a cheap source of them if anyone needs one.......
