    Hey

Just wondering what radiator will fit a mk2 on itbs/carbs? The mk1s use the corsa but what about the mk2s?

    Cheers

There's plenty of room in a Mk2 bonnet - start with an OE rad and an bit of cold air ducting.

When the rads get shorter, there's then the issue of mounting them to the top panel, so cue fabbing time.

I have fabed the lower rad support so that it sits lower and with the standard rad giving an OK air gap.

Yep, I`ve done the same  Leave a nice clear opening between the radiator and slam panel.

In my mk1 i have fitted a golf2 16v rad.................upside down............so the in and outlet are on the battery side and then removed the top coolant pipes of the rad its self so it sits under the slam panel so there is enough clearence to get the home made aluminium cold airbox on and off..it was a long winter

The removal of the top row of coolant pipes was not pretty but it works. I had to remove the bonnet safety catch so it dose not damage the rad. I use a short chain instead. The thermostat is fitted in the t-piece in the top hose and after the return to the tank.

MUcha, loads of room a mk2 mate. Next time you're passing pop in. I have the std. rad in there and it's never been a problem with the past owner.

Looks like the rad does need to be moved down after all

Yup. Had to trim the tow hook off it in order to fit it to my mk2, but apart from that, pretty much a straight swap.

Is the tow hook part of the rad support, or you had to had to remove the mk2 tow eye?

The tow eye is part of the passat rad support. I just removed it as it interfered with the mk2 tow eye.
