brm did a servo upgrade using rover servo and a 'bespoke' m/c - i have one on my BRM 152 Rocco. still going strong 20 years on.

my 16v has an autocavan brake bar.......seem to recall they went for about 150 back in the day??.....that was fitted at reshell stage back in '92 when the Bell Colvill bar wouldnt fit the donor chassis having fitted ok in the converted to RHD (by them and badly) original car.

Wow, impressive to see what that's been bidded up to. Sold one a few years ago for 100, but still sat on my original + instructions [:^:] 160 incl VAT, June 1993.

I keep meaning to match up a ford mk3/4 escort setup to see how close the fit is,having looked at one in a scrappy I think it can be made to fit.

The prototype was adapted from an Escort , can't remember what model though . We made them for the Mk 1 Golf , Mk 1 Scirrocco Mk 2 ditto , Caddy all different in detail. Important to brace the bulkhead for which a part was supplied in the kit as it wasn't designed to take horizontal pivoting brake shaft loads. The firm that made them for us went pop and the jigs vanished. Quite expensive to make in man hours it was and quite a few parts in the kit. But it worked well with much better pedal feel. Trouble with the stock arrangement was that the vertical pivoting links twisted and bound/seized on the pivot bearings/shaft and gave that hard feel to the pedal with nothing particularly happening on the retardation front!

It was latterly Phoenix Exhausts at Cullompton after the original people folded in the same town/village. I did have a new Mk1 rear box in my Volksport stock , I'll have a look. Agree, great sound.

What would be the chances of getting a new run of these made?

Removes 2 silly 90-degree pivots and replaces them with a twisting rod. Far more effective.
