great results over standard, it'll "feel" much quicker, but wont
make it a gti. to get the best from it fit a gti cam as well.

as for fitting it, really easy, order a new carb flange (4 bolt) from
your favourite german part supplier because the old ones are
normally perished and leak causing no fuel to but sucked
    through. ok follow theese instructions:

1: remove airbox and vacuum conections, battery earth
connection as well cos you dont want to explode!

2: remove electrical connections to carb and zip tie up out of
the way cos you wont be needind them anymore, tape them up
    to stope earthing.

3: remove and bung up fuel and vacuum connections to carb.

4: remove throttle cable, this is probably the best time to
replace it and the car will feel a lot nicer to drive as well!

5: use a 10mm socket to undo the three long bolts that run
through the car into the carb flange, remove the carb.

6: bend the bolt retaining "flaps" and remove the carb flange, fit
    new carb flange.

7: fit carb adapter plate using the two allenkeys and the carb
    mounting stud

8: fit the gasket and the carb over the four studs, choke
mechanism facing gearbox side, using washers, spring
    washers and 13mm nuts.

9: refit the fuel line and throttle cabe, you can ditch the green
    vacuum sphere.

10: fit the choke cable by unscrewing the plastic blanking plate,
from behind, in the dash. you will need to remove the drivers
side lower dash tray for this. fit the choke pull and feed the
cable through a suitable rubber grommit in the bulkhead into
the engine bay, offer up to the carb and cut to length. connect to
    the choke mechanism. check movement.

11: fit the airbox adapter to the top of the carb, c shaped
    adapter with allen key fixing.

12: refit airbox connecting vacuum pipe to the inlet manifold
vacuum valve (yellow and black thingy with connection to the
    distributor)

13: reconnect baterry, pull out your choke and start your car! it
wont start straight away because the fuel has to be pumped
    into the carb resevior.

14: for basic setup get the car up to temperature and adjust the
idle screw so the car idles at around 900 rpm with no choke.
then go to the garage and get it done properly.

hope this covers it all, if not then people will point it out
