Charge straight from the mains but I think the range is 25 miles.

    was this polo on airide?

Guessing the polo doesn't have much room for the batteries needed for the range?

I dont think they would put it on air due to the weight etc.

Looks great! It was blue in the last pic i saw!

It was a joke from the other UD thread, where everything seemed to be on air ride:lol:

25 miles is still a good distance as far as electric only cars, given this can be further improved.

Driving is about smiles per miles; you may get 70 miles range from a Geewhiz but you'd be having more fun in this Polo! :)

100 miles is what most of the production EVs are doing these days - though admittedly not with that level of performance.

I'd love to see some tech specs of this Polo, but couldn't find anything on the net. If it really is 200bhp/149kW I'd be amazed if it had a true 25 mile range AND managed to be 150kg lighter than a stock Polo GTI!

Sure, it's nothing special motor-wise. But to deliver 149kW (or just half that) for 25 miles needs a lot of batteries, hence why I'd be amazed at it being lighter than a Polo GTI! The EV I'm working on has 300kg of batteries, our motor's only 55kW and we get a 100 mile range on the Euro mixed drive cycle.

Still, it's interesting to see more people this side of the pond experimenting with EVs!

25miles, i could drive to work and back, then charge it at home and be ready for the next day. I'd love nailing around in that! Would be a torque monster... (even better than an 8v!)

I've driven one of these around Oslo, which was pretty good fun, actually. http://www.thinkev.com/ A mate of mine is one of the designers.

The battery in the bottom of the car makes for great weight distribution. Range of the Th!nk City is over 100 miles I think. It's pretty quick from 0-30 but tails off at higher speeds.

There was one of those Think City cars next to our test drive stand at the Geneva Motor Show, didn't have the time to give it a go unfortunately. Drove the Nissan Leaf though which seems to be setting the benchmark for car-sized EVs.

Putting mileage on development EVs from work saves me a lot of cash on petrol, but as my commute is mainly motorway/dual-carriageway it's not really an EV's natural home! And the cost of batteries is still prohibitive - Nissan will be losing a lot of money on each Leaf they sell at 28k, and that'd buy you a decent motor and a lot of petrol...

Range is 45 miles at the moment. But that is just a start lol.

fail ???I don't think so. It's a sprint car producing 200 foot pounds of torque, not a road developed car and 950 kilos. It's still in development.A new motor is on it's way and more powerful batteries are being sourced then the Motorsport package will be fitted. It's way ahead of it's time. I spent the last week before UD working on it with the guys at TRD until 3 in the morning most nights. It only got sprayed the weekend before UD. It's pure thinking outside of the box.
