    Hi,

I usually post on another MK1 Golf forum but thought I would come over.

Having recently nearly died after seeing the price of MK1 Golf chrome bumpers, I decided to take action.

Using the facilities at my place of work, I have spent a number of months designing a set of chrome bumper/brackets/bolts that replicate the originals.

Today I finally got the first set complete and have test fitted them to my ride. They are 'first offs' so needs some work. I.e. I somehow missed a hole and noticed the end caps didn't fit well enough for my liking.

I plan to get the first working set complete by the end of next week and will then be putting them up on ebay.

If you have any questions, or are interested please just get in touch.

Even though I will sell them on ebay, I plan to donate to the MK1 site I use and also this site.

Let me know you thoughts ...

    Hello there,

Welcome to the forum. Looks like good work you're doing there.

I'll leave this thread here publicly for now as I know you're testing the water at the moment. What we do on this forum is charge for any sort of trade advertising, but for things like this where people are making stuff in their spare time to sell (that's not related to a business), we have the Entrepreneurial section (http://www.clubgti.com/forum/forumdisplay.php?f=155) which members can use for no charge to promote services / products they're doing from their hobby. I see you mentioned donating to the site so what you can do is join up (10) and then you could use that section to sell these.

    Cheers,

    Trev

    Hi Trev,

No problems with joining and depending on interest levels, I think moving to a new section would be right.

    Thanks for your support.

    They look good, nice work!

Will the final part have the curve in them like original bumpers?

They have a curve in them but it can't be seen in the photo. Rather than put a curve in the bumper, I have put it into the return folds that sit closest to the car.

This gives the front bumper a more 'tucked' look. It's a slight change from the original but a good on. Aesthetically it looks better in my opinion.

I would definitely be interested in seeing the finished items fitted.
