Bill, from my research, be careful about the ADR - the later models of ADR have VVT and smaller port heads

I reckon you'll be looking for one out of a very early pisrat

Bill my late 2000 Golf 1.8T is an AGU! Think it must have been on the crossover point between cable and DBW!

MK1 - the autodata technical book, how up to date are they??? I'm after some data about a VW engine that came out in the last 6 mths, but finding it very hard to find. I have access to the Autodata books, but I dont reckon its that up to date

Our book is 2001 (tight a55ed boss)

Those books are only a guide for servicing bits and torque settings, they're not 100% accurate with the dates and stuff, I'd say ETKA will be the best bet.

Blimey... changed to VVT and smallport and kept the same engine code.. Ewww.

    Thanks for that.
When did they drop the ADR atmo motor... I remember it being slated at the time and a 2ltr crossflow 8v replaced it in the model line up.

Yup, agree with Gary on the autodata book there, try etka.

Change of topic slightly, is it really essential to have the big port head for NA use ?

I didn't think the difference was all that much to be honest.

Bill you should be fine with an AGU engine code they are the 1.8t I beleive they where the last engine that was Non DBW around 1999/2000, The next code I beleive was the AUM code which would signify that you would have a DBW VVT K03 sport engine, better for getting more power on a cheap budget but restricted when you want to go for BIG horsepower if 500 odd is not enough.

    HTH

P.S. Do Jabba not have this info for you ??

    Cheers guys.
AGU is the cyl head I need (2 of em I want really)
Ringing around breakers askign about engine codes is'nt great but if I can spec car models and engine type it helps suss wot motor's in what car.
    Helps the search.

Largeport 20V head is what I am after, in whatever donor car it came from.

Am considering mods for the dbw Ibiza... so will match parts to get a Dbw lageport all being well. (one day down the road)

    cheers
    bill
