95 GTI keeps cutting out at low revs approaching junctions. Have changed crankcase breather hose (58 from VAG!) as had hole in but all other hoses are as should be. obviously indicates a problem of lost vacuum/leak on inlet side but cannot find any source.
I have had 3 other competent guys looking at it without any ideas.
If this keeps on i am going to get rid of an otherwise good car - any ideas please or i will shoot one of your beloved GTI`s.

Had this problem for a few weeks on my 95 8v. Finally got enough time off of work to look at it. Had a hole in the pipe that goes airbox -> pressure reg. Only paid 17 from VAG for mine though! Cleaned out the throttle body and used some injector cleaner with the next half tank of fuel. Fingers crossed it's been ok for a week! Seemed to happen when you approach a junction in a lower gear (3+) and dropped the clutch.

I remember from searching about another problem the stalling at junction problem mostly turned out to be a crank position sensor fault.

    Clean out your throttle.
    Seriously.
You may think it can't be that but It was on mine.
Very common prob with these cars.
Clean off all the carbon buildup.
Make sure you do it on both sides of the throttle.

I've been having the same problem on my 96 gti 8v agg! Haven't got around to checking it myself but was going to start by putting the original air box back on with the air flow meter as its had a universal induction kit fitted and the air flow meter totally removed! And I've noticed a decrease in power the car does not seem to pull as well as it did, it revs up fine but seems be be lacking the bit of punch it use 2 have :-(
