2.0 Litre engine 8v

    Does anyone know what engine code the mk3 2.0 8v engine is that fits into a mk1 gti (bottom block).

    2e is the early one, I cant rememebr the later one (might be abv...) but there is also the aad (from memory) or 3a in audis.

    Is this a straight swap mounting wise ??

    Has anyone done an article on this mod somewhere in cyberspace ??/

    If you use any of the blocks mentioned above then the mounts are all the same you just use your old mounting plates (with new mounts fitted).

    If you use my spare 3A engine then it will be more straight forward as the block height is the same as the one you are taking out.

    These are the mounts to use with the 3A :-

    Off side engine mountOriginal VW
    Near Side Gearbox mount Original VW
    Rear Gearbox mountOriginal Diesel VW
    Front Engine SteadyPowerflex or Polysport

    If you dont use this config. for your mounts with the 3A Bottom end then you will have trouble sitting in the car due to vibration !

    I have just finished fitting a 3A in my MK1 Cab.

    Bought a mk3 2.0 litre 8 valve Feb 2006. Year is 1997 so its a later model. My engine code is AGG. Dont know if it fits a mk 1 though.
