    All,
i know it's not a VW, but i need to to get the head bolt undoing sequence for a '95 2.0 16v NISSAN [:$] primera, ASAP?

Or, anybody recon i could just follow the VW pattern?

Also, how to align the cam chain timming marks for head removal would useful, i haven't seen it yet tho.....

Or where to look on the web to find the above out.
    Tvery muchIA

Nope, but the head bolts hould be undone in the same way as any iron block/ally head engine (if that's what it is!), they all have the same sort of order to pop the bolts in for a good reason - to stop the head bending up like a banana..... so the VW method would be fine.
No idea at all about the cams I'm afraid.....

In that case I'd be inclined to slacken them all off bit by bit, with the engine stone cold.... ally head and ally block should be fine that way. Probably best to do them from the middle out anyway, just in case....

it wouldn't be broken if the father-in-law hadn't just driven it 10 miles with no water! But then again, if it's such a crap design that the temp guage reads normal under those conditions........(bottom hose blew off)

oh dear it's warped by 1mm. one of the head bolts was loose too. Does anyone think the head warp may have ripped the head bolt out of the ally block?

That`s a bit of a warp! don`t think that would pop a bolt out though, maybe last person in f**ked it up?

one owner fsh car! it did make a "snap", type noise while it was cooling from the severe overheat tho.....

Inetersting looking at the head tho, the manifolds are well matched, the gaskets are a lot better fitting than VW (8v) ones too and there's no obvious restrictions in the combustion chamber when the vales are just open. A novice, like myself, could not get anything out of it IMO, unlike VW where you can feel the improvement of a few hrs with the dremmel. I guess that's why the nissan spares are more expesive tho.......

I'll try and post some piccies, soon.

a bit less extra meat than on a VW 8v head, the gasket is has less play on the bolts too.

Yeah, i see some good things going on, buy i'm not too sure the followers are the best for high revs or extreeme (VW type) longlevity tho.

EDIT: although i did read it was designed to be V. quite, so less followers/lobes may be to do with that.

sometimes they use the rocker arms to lever a bit more lift from a compact cam lobe
