Got the opportunity to "borrow" a weigh bridge today In case anyone's bothered.. The golf with a nearly a full tank of fuel, minus myself / associated crap, weighed in at a portly 1103kg, lardy f*cker The weight distribution came to 59.7% front / 40.3% rear.
Blimey suprisingly heavy, is it the car in your sig, i.e 3 dr big bumper valver? Guess its fully trimmed? i.e standard interior & does it have a sunroof?
Yeah, it's the car in my sig - 3dr 90 spec 16v. I suppose all the late spec stuff adds to the weight (sunroof, power steering, bumpers, 'leccy windows etc). Was quite surprised to see how lardy it is, though
Did a fair bit of weighing a while ago when I got the opportunity. Had very similar figures for a Mk2 16v like yours. Most amusing discovery was that my mate's Mk2 Passat estate, running a 2E motor and full interior etc. weighed less than the golf by 50kg
Sounds like a Mk2 Passat might make a good sleeper, then I'd be interested to get a pre-90 spec valver on the scales and see what it comes up at. Still not quite sure where all the weight's come from.. hoping to find 100kg of class A's / gold bullion hidden inside somewhere
