Hi I'm a newbie hereI'm from South Africa and have a MKII racecar.I'm building a 1900 KR with 83.5mm pistons and STD crank. I ran the 2004 season with 268 cams (shrick grinds from Estas billets),45 Webers and STD compression and it made 124Kw at the flywheel. This unfortunately isonly good for a lower midfield placing,as most of my rivals have 141-148Kw and 2lit ABF motors[:^(]. The new motor has a gasflowed head and a 12:1 CR. It willrun on race fuel only (102.6 octane).I can get a set of 288 Schricks, but my revlimiter is still the stock 7200rpm one. Any experience on these relatively wild cams. Take in consideration that I run a short 4.2:1 final drive and almost never go below 5000rpm on track. Any advice appreciated
Best bet would be to ask someone who's raced a 16v. Grant Motorsport have massive experience of race 16v engines. 230bhp+ from their 2.0 16Vs. High rev limit and the internals that go with it, good head work, throttle bodies, 300+ degree cams...
Might be some info in this thread about cams... http://www.clubgti.com/forum/forum_posts.asp?TID=52550&PN=1
