Trying to get the timing sorted after a head rebuild and not sure if i have the cam timing right.
can anybody tell me how the cam timing marks line up on the head.do both marks sit above the edge of the cylinder head or should they be evened out over the edge the manual is not very clear how it should be [:s]

The mark on the "inside" of the cam sprocket should line up with the
head. The mark on the outside should line up with the arrow on the
rocker cover. Turn it over by hand (19mm socket on the crank pulley)
before firing it so you can check if you've got valves and pistons hitting
    each other.

Thanks for that, the problem I have is when line up the marker on the cambelt pulley with the pointer on the cover the marks on the cam chain sprockets dont quite line up with the edge of the cylinder head.exhaust cam mark is above the edge and the inlet is below the edge

Ah, I see what you mean. Did you set the inter-cam timing correctly first
(so the marks line up with each other)?

I can't remember off the top of my head where the two marks should be
    at TDC on #1.

think the cams are in ok,if I move one on a tooth of the chain they would be way out.In the manual it just says to line up the sprocket markings with the edge of the head facing each other which is what ive done,I was thinking all three markings should line up at TDC

As long as the marks pointed at each other when you set the inter-cam
timing and you're sure you've got the cam sprocket lined up right with #1
at TDC then I don't see you having a problem. Turn it over a few times
before cranking it to be sure that nothing's coming into contact.

Have a look on Autotechs site for their sport cam fitting PDF instructions. Good pic on there of the dots, they should be level on the head face, more below than above though. If you get it wrong, double nut the end stud(s) out on the exhaust cam and you can fiddle the ex cam about in situ without taking the inlet cam out.

Got it sorted, got totally p155ed off trying to set it up.
Changed over the cams for some with the older type sprockets and bingo all 4 head timing marks match up.
Makes me wonder if the older type sprockets have more accurate timing than the quieter round toothed newer ones?
