I'm sure I've read this somewhere before, but I can't find it! Is it right that there are 42mm, 48mm and 50mm size inlet manifolds? Also do all sizes fit the KR engine? Is it also correct that the smaller the size inlet manifold, the quicker lower down acceleration it will have, but the bigger size one's have a higher top-end speed on motorways?

What would you say is the best overall size to go for?

    Any info, greatly received!

    40mm, 42mm and 50mm

All fit the KR, but you will need the appropriate gasket set.

The smaller the inlet tract, the more torque they tend to produce at the sacrifice of a little top end power.

I've got 42 & 50mm, so could fit either. By top end power do you mean flat-out on the motorway, or over 70/80ish? Which would you go for?!

I changed from small to large (42mm to 50mm) all I gained was 1 bhp and more noise.. and maybe a few more rpm to play with.

Would be very interested in seeing your findings. Interesting reading GVK's link, but not sure how different the readings will be with a standard unmodified '91 1.8?

You'll find with the 42mm you won't have that kick at 4k as you'll have more useable power below 4k and the power delivery will have been smoothened out.

Some like for their car to do nothing until 4k, some don't.. up to you. [:D]

Think I'll do the same, as it's not that often that I'll be going over 4000rpm, as I don't do that much motorway driving & if I do I rarely go over 90!
