Gary, I've been thinking about doing this with the 6A. After reading all the links (thanks!) is it going to be worth it?
Am I right in believing that the exhaust cams are the same in the 6A and KR? If so I'll only change the inlet, but what do I use the standard KR inlet or the exhaust mod?
    Getting a bit confused [:s]

The Kr exjaust has a higher lift/duration than the inlet, so you get another kr exhaust cam, trim it down and replace the sprocket with a modified version and refit this instead of the standard inlet.

If it's for a mainly road going 2 litre, stick with KR cams.

Your mid range will suffer if using the ex cam as inlet.

That's what the graphs lead me to believe on mine anyway.

So I can leave the 6A exhaust cam in place and swap the 6A inlet for one of the KR variety.

Why does it sound so simple?

Does anyone know about the South African cam mod. I was told that there is an altitude variation and the Golf suffered on power so a new cam was made to up the power.

Flusted, your car is an 1800,everyone who has it done with an 1800 always says it irons out the KR 'kick' at 4000rpm. ;)

Have you had it rr'd at the same place as with the ex cam mod and KR cams?

    I have remember :)

hey guys am i right in thinking that all 16v 1800s and 2000s had the same exhaust cam as ive got the chance of 6a cam and i think i rad somewhere that this was the same as the krs just on those engines they changed the inlet cam
