nay,, as your knife edged crank wont hild much oul anyways and those scrapers wouldnt be matched up with your crank,,
I say just use a mk3 TDI sumpgasket / windage tray,,
it has little upstands on it ti wick a bit of oil off the crank,,
dont be fooled buy all the tuners prices they are 22.50 + vat from GSF,, and i bet thatw where they get them all too cough cough!! [:D]

    simple and effective,, :):) ;)

Vizard found that a well designed crank scraper was worth 4hp on a 200+hp Pinto doing 7k rpm.

Yup, but Dave didn't use a knife-edged crankf rom what I read last week.
Cracking book I was reading about pintos etc. was gaining more hp from valve mods than by flowing the head!!

thing is if dave Vizard builds it it seems to have magic powers, ever tried his stuff yourself and matched his power claims.....i'm not saying he is wrong, just a bit like those shrick cams.....

    Yank gimmick?

Formula Fords (thats the English Kent engine for you youngsters) have been using them for about 35 years.

Hey, I'm not that young :p

I've a 2.0 16v Audi 6A block (Same as 9A) that's being rebuilt with JE pistons and lightened and balanced bottom end with knife edged crank, Can your scrapers be matched to a knife edged crank also, and what gains could I expect?

Read the site more carefully -- we provide knife-edge scrapers at no extra charge. Lots of VW racers use them.

I do also recommend using the VW tray with the scraper, part number 037 115 220 B -- I have one sitting here next to me.

The VW engine has windage problems -- that is the genesis of that component and the plastic one.

The VW windage tray has scraper louvers in it -- people don't recognize scraper technology because it is so widespread and takes many forms.

I hada Drake Engineering pan with scraper louvers in it -- oh, about 35 years ago for my 1.6 Rabbit engine ("Polo" in Europe, I think).

 If you can tell me the angle of the cut and how far into the counterweight it goes I can provide one that should not need too much grinding. Otherwise I deliberately give more metal than needed so you can get a close fit. Pics help.

On NA engines the figures we hear are about 2-3% returned HP. That is sitting still on a dyno -- a moving car would have bigger momentary losses (braking, sharp turn, etc.) and the scraper would generate a bigger incremental return.

I suppose every little bit helps, the dyno chart on your site from the PT Cruiser looks quite impressive for the cost of these things.

Hell I've wasted money in the past and I'm sure others have on products that do slightly less than bugger all.

Yes, that percentage is in line with what we see. But there is also an increase in hp when measured on an inertial dyno -- rate of acceleration -- that isn't seen at a steady rpm. It is like using a lightweight flywheel.

Also, I saw 3% gains on the 993cc Suzuki G10 engine at only 5300 rpms.

Scrapers are illegal in some areas/types of racing because they are an unfair advantage.

I can tell you we have sent _a lot_ of scrapers to the UK.
