[:x] Just went for a drive, currently have some poo budgets on the front but the Yoko's were on the rear, and the nice A539's kept sliding out on me on the rear [:x]

These tyres need a wet warning on them! Rear was on 30psi as i was load carrying the other day, should I drop the tyre pressure?

odd all our track day cars are fitted with them and they don't have any problems with them

A539's are rubbish. I had them on my old BBS RA's on the Torny Mk2, used to skate around like a **** on rollerblades. Uniroyal rainsports are the way forward!

  Like i've said many times on here, T1-Rs are a quality tyre in all departments, especially in the wet! Very cheap too!

They're a copy of the Goodyear Eagle F1 - 'the' accepted track day rain tyre.

I've got a couple of A539s on the front of a non-VW. Very soft compared to normal Kwik Fiit concrete products. Worth pondering whether the pressures are a little high at 30 + also how any ARBs/springs you've added may be affecting things :) .

I was at Silverstone a week ago for the Historic Saloon Car series'.... the Proxes were a very popular wet tyre for a handfull of Jag runners

Just put the Yoko's on the front, in the bone dry with 30psi at the front, they seem fine in the dry. But dread to think how they'll grip in the wet being on the front as well! They feel a more 'comfier' tyre, giving less road noise than my solid rubber band budget tyres, but English weather is always kack, so i'll wait and see.

I really want some Eagle' F1's or T1-R's but my car is having other issues that need to take priority given the Yoko's still have 5mm tread left

A539's were the control tyre for Stock Hatch last year. I found them to overheat quickly in the dry, unless you had them scrubbed, because the tread blocks are tiny and just get mullered. Not too bad in the wet I found.

There was enough A539s at the spring festival yesterday considering the amount of bad ratings they seem to get.

    Cost over function?

I have used em. They are sheriously crap when it just starts to rain. I have had them go 'off' in the dry too. The eagle f1's are great all rounders along with the T1-R's.

Not great in the wet on track, but 30psi rear will be way too high for wet weather...

had them on 17's and there was a few scary moments in the wet , the toyos are great grip, but they dont seem to last long.

I did buy some falkens for the toledo in oct/nov and have been very surprised at the grip in the wet.

Got my first complete set of proxes 18 months ago, i do about 14,000 miles a year, and the fronts lasted 12months and the rears still have a good half of the tread left!!!
