    hi,

I have a VW Golf GTi 1996 and I plugged in the diagnostics computer in today to find the error message:

    00515 - Camshaft Position (Hall) Sensor (G40)
    16-10 - Signal Outside Specifications

Is this likely to be the sensor connected to the Distibutor or is it likely to be more serious? Also will this be the reason that the rev limit kicks in at 5,000RPM?

i have now bought a new coil pack and a distributor to cure the problem, do you people agree.

    thanks

The fault you have is caused by the ignition timing, The timing on these has to be set using Vag Com or a similar scanner.
Using the above, you need to set the timing in the "basic setting" mode, adjusting the position of the distributor untill you get the correct value shown on the Vag Com/scanner

hiya, i have recently had a new distributor (mk3 8v agg) put in my my local garage, and have noticed now that i am hitting the limiter at 5k revs..
should they have set it up better using a scanner thingy??
or could it be something else??
(also had a new coil in the last 3 months)
    cheers.!?[:^(]
