Here's some new pics of my car after some more recent fettling. All done over about a month or so aswell as new discs, pads, brake prop valve and gearbox swap all ready for Spa and the ring this weekend. Back to the old road wheels as they are v. light, even if they don't really suit the car! Notice the air conditioning!! Just stripped out all the old tar sound proofing and treated the inside to a coat of paint. Made and welded in a proper harness bar. Welded proper plates to the floor for the cage and fitted a 50mm steering wheel spacer (cheers tubs) to go with deep dish wheel, proper touring car close now!! Also welded in proper seat supports, which also saved me another 10kgs from the old angle iron jobbies. A pic of the 2L abf. and lastly a recently rolling road graph from Emerald in Norwich, (dave walkers place) showed 173bhp and 152ftlb, about 7hp down from stealth but i think they are slightly more honest horses!! Little vid link on the road. http://smg.photobucket.com/albums/v221/ianvant/?action=view¤t=movinghorriblenoise.flv
Cheers David, nah not really going to be trying or it'll end it tears, might be nice to go under 9 thou!
suprised you havent an upper front stut brace but I know its v fast, proper rollerskate, hope you have fun out on the continent
i did have an eibach one, but it would'nt fit when i went to the abf lump (too tall), can't say i've noticed the difference thou? Might try and make/modify one sometime.
Looking good mate, have you (or Lou!) painted the floor inside? edit - I'll read the thread before asking daft questions next time.
Ian - sheer luxury, what a car for continental cruising, quiet, comfortable, air-conditioning! Have you got Lou a new cushion this time? Have a great trip
Looks good! Is it safe to mount the harness to that bar you have put in? Read in Track mag that alot of folk mount harness's wrong, i gather its totally ok there?
Yeah, Jenks that is pretty much the best place to mount them, hence why i fitted it> Harnesses should not really be mounted too high or too low down (like the rear seatbelt mounting points), or to a flimsy rear strut brace which could break.
Deako, If its still a daily driver i would'nt recomend it, i'll add a link to a little vid to show how noisy it is!! See above.
Its only a daily driver at the moment as i choose to use it that way. I could actually do without driving it to work and back. Would be stripped already if i had a 2nd car though. Time to buy a 50 polo shed i reckon.
very nice mate, good vid, whats with the random revving near the end in traffic, i think you had already changed down a few cogs to slow down so i dont think it was rev matching the grear!? also how have you mounted your camera? im tempted to get one in mine! tim
Great little mk1 trackcar you have there... And very effective as well... 9min05 'auf der ring'... ABF in a light mk1 seems to do all it needs to, and in a great way too... Love the video... Do you have more (like on track, or from a standing start for instance)... And a white mk1... can't go wrong with that, it'll always look good... Can i ask what sort of gearbox your running or what has been changed in it ? Greetz
Cheers Tim, thats just me ****ing about trying to work out what my horrible noise is... see my other thread in engines. i home made a camera mount out of 1" box section and an exhaust clamp and mounted it to my rollcage hoop.
I have a few more track vid's i'll try and get some more uploaded later. it's a 020 box with peloquin diff and helix clutch.
Heres a couple of my trackday vids. Both a bit dull i'm afraid as there's not much traffic to pass! 1 lap of Snetterton including a nifty little catch! 1 lap of Oulton Park,
