Very nice mate  . Same spec as mine, but with two less doors - never mind  .

You sure did get some history with it - has it had the cambelt changed yet ??

A jetex exhaust seems to get the all round thumbs up, and it's what i'm gonna get when mine packs up.

Cambelt hasn't been done yet nah, the guy was sticking to the VW intervals, which is fair enough. However, I rang up my local VW specialist and it's 'only' 170 for the cambelt and tensioner to be changed, so may well get that done while i can still afford it and it's one thing less to worry about. It runs lovely though!

Jetex is the seemingly done thing - anybody know of anywhere in the north east (newcastle end of things) where I can get one supplied and fitted? Would just go for cat-back.

Can I ask how much you paid for it? Trying to get one for my other half, and found one thats similar, but with cloth recaros instead of the leather, and with a few more miles

2900 mate. He wanted 3200 initially.

Which, considering I was looking at mk4s too, seems a great price given the miles, condition, and extras. I am the third owner.

They can be had from 2000 upwards by the seems of things, just without the extras etc.

I'd been looking for a good one for over a month, and this turned up right on my doorstep!

What year is it? I belive for 97/98 models the average mileage is 80000/70000 respectively.

    Lucky bugger ;)

Exactly what i was looking for a couple of years ago. Black, 3 door, valver. They were like rocking horse **** and no doubt still are.

I looked at a few but ended up buying the mk4t.

Looks very nice and decent history too

I had a cambelt and tensioners done for 120ish at awesome on a mk3 valver. 170 seems a bit steep.

I was just sheer lucky that one came up so close to home and that the bloke hadn't accepted any lower offers!!

MK4 T was my initial plan but it was gona work out far too expensive...seeing this immediately made my mind up!

I thought 170 was cheap :o Cos its a hell of a lot more on the mk4! Not sure where else I can go round here, i'd rather go to a VW specialist for that sort of job.

Just been trying to put my tt pedal covers on.....clutch and brake...no bother, but ive sat fighting with the accelerator for 45 mins and it just.wont.go.on!!!! ARARAHRAHGHGHGHHHHH $""$%^!

    Woooo-saaa.

Will have another crack tomorrow when im not so tired...need a bloody long handled screwdriver, amazes me where they have all disappeared to!

    More pics soon :)

As above, but with black badges and twin exhaust :p

Not sure where to get a Jetex fitted in the North East though?

EDIT: Revolution in Gateshead appear to fit them....requested a quote!

I bought my Jetex from MSW, then had a local garage fit em for me (Co.Durham way)

I've had revolution fit my suspension, and brakes. They're service is ok, and ideal as i'm at newc uni, so dropping my car of at the quayside ain't a problem!

    Vdubbster - I thought I was going good finding one with 63k!! 52 tho....

Got the quote from Revolution for the cat back system, 259.00 plus 30 for the fitting which seems really good! I may well get them to fit new suspension while i'm there aswell.

Got a quote for some 17" BBS RX.....1059 [:^(] Better jog on!!

Thinking FK AK coilovers, and maybe some 17" Santa Monicas.

Will get it de-arched/de-mudflapped as soon as i source some CL trim!

RSS - Didnt realise you were a local - do you go to the North East meet at Whitley Bay?

Nick - Thanks, they will be off soon

Ally - I mean the interior door handles, mine are just black plastic at the mo. The mk 3.5 (mk4 cabrio) ones are chrome and just look nicer!

More pressingly however - The rear rattle has returned!!!! Heatshield again probably, thats coming OFF

Need to get the ball rolling with the wads, the money is burning a hole in my pocket

Looks really smart, I have a soft spot for 3 door mark 3's
Get yourself some Autoglymm engine machine cleaner and a decorators radiator brush and clean that engine bay up. Cover any electrical components with tinfoil, its easier to shape than plastic and tape! spray on and adgitate with the brush, then hose off on fine spray.
I did my leon last week and am made up with the results.

The site is really friendly, but just watch out your bank balance may end up drained!
