Thought I would post up some pics of the conversion that Im completing for my university project seeing as the amount of help that alot of you have given me!:)

Engine is 1.8t out of a 2002 Audi A4 a lot of people said dont use an engine that was longitudinally mounted but this one came up very cheap, all Ive done is use a turbo, exhaust manifold and inlet from a transverse and with custom fabrication for oil return and water return. Using merc sprinter intercooler was going to be using 02a gearbox but going with 020 for time being. Ive obtained all of the parts for the 02a conversion for when the 020 blows up.

First of all the car thats just about to go under the knife

merc sprinter intercooler fitment check its tight!!
It looks a bit battered cause it was a cheapy but will be using half decent one in final install

old engine on its way out

New engine being prepared with sachs sports clutch

020 and turbo added, just a k03 saidly hopefully enough go:)

Engine fitment very tight against master cyclinder but just enough if passat tdi rear mount used. Thanks very much to "alackofspeed" for part numbers!

For the management side of thinks Im using the qpeng kit. Will update when the kit arrives. Thanks very much to Dubnutta for obtaining parts and putting up with the constant questions.

Im taking bets on how the long the 020 will last!

Well just thought i would update you guys the downpipe and ecu and wiring arrived from qpeng and as you can see in the pics the qulaity is absolutely incredible.

Connected up ecu and all the wiring and the ENGINE RUNS :) with no boost at the moment but the map is incredibly smooth, engine sounds bit tappety but think just needs a bit of a proper run to fill the hydraulic buckets in the head.

all thats left to do is plumb in radiator and intercooler and car will be on the road.:)

Couple of shots of the downpipe

Connecting up the exhaust was lots of fun and skinned nuckles

In the end it took at 2.5" to 2..25" conversion piece and 2.5" sleeve as well as a new exhaust connection off old gti.

Decided to put lots of exhaust wrap on the downpipe to try and prevent and premature death of any components![xx(]

    shiny new ecu:)

Just some shots of the engine with pretty much all it needs just waiting on some samco hosing for the intercooler.

Matt, cheers for the mention. It looks like you're cracking on at a good pace, and have chosen wisely your ECU and DP - the QPENG chaps are a good bunch, and the ECU/Map, work very well on Trialsy's car.

Just a quick comment; the part number I gave you is for a tranverse 02A installation, so shouldn't really be used with a 02O gearbox - you should, as it says in the QPENG guide, use the original 8V brackets and mounts. I'd expect you experience a bit of a fight when lining the mounts and bolts up, which isn't ideal.

I think it's fair to say, that if your engine is in the correct location, and fitted with the correct mounts / brackets, you ought to need to grind a small section away from the master cylinder. I've heard people say they've put spacers between the front cross member and chassis rails to tilt the engine forward slightly and thus avoid grinding the cylinder, but to me this seems a considerably larger bodge than removing a small section of the master cylinder.

Which water temp sender are you using, the stock 20vt, with one feed to the MBE ECU, and one to the dash?

I used the passat bracket for the original trial fitment of the o2a and it fitted well but I considered the other work that had to be done and thought to begin with I will go back to the 020 so I removed the o2a gearbox and rear mount and fitted the original 8v gti one and grinded bit off master cylinder.

With the trial 02a fitment I found the g60 front mount fitted perfect with the passat rear and the standard 02a gearbox mount. If I dont sell the car will get 02a rebuilt with atb and when the 020 lets go fit that.

temperature sensor is a weird one because it hooks up to the qpeng loom and that hooks to the 20v one. The temperature gauge just goes up to max when its connected to that. When its connected back to the original temp sensor and put it in a bowl of hot water I get nothing from the gauge?

Any ideas would be very help full.

Just thought i would give this thread an update. The mbe ecu and downpipe have been fantastic not to mention the almost constant calls to Ben for help. But the car is running.:)

The car feels so quick in all most any gear now and traction has become qite an issue:p

Just had the car checked out on rolling road this morning and it made

    178bhp @5346prm
    219LB.FT@ 3360rpm

All on standard Qpeng Ecu and K03 turbo

The operator said that the air filter location was losing me a fair amount of power so have to rethink where to put that. Will post up some final pics when i can locate the camera.

Other then the idle which needs a bit of adjustment everything was really spot and cant reconmend the kit highly enough to anybody that wants a 20v with out the wiring hassles.
