Got a little problem i'm trying 2 get my head around. I'm in the process of carrying out a 1.8 20v turbo conversion into a '91 16v GTi. The engine came from a SEAT ibiza Cupra R as did the gearbox. I'm goin to keep the gearbox but i'm not sure how you go about modifying the standard 16v pedal box or what parts are required. Any advice would be greatly recieved. Cheers

I put a Corrado G60 pedal box into mine to allow me to run the hydraulic clutch setup.

you'll have to beat the bulkhead flat to mount the cylinder. I too used 'rado g60 pedal box.

Or you can keep your '1G' pedel box and get a mechanical pushrod for the gearbox and run a 1.3 MK2 clutch cable the parts are:

    Manual clutch push rod 02A 141 708 B
MK2 1.3 clutch cable 192 721 335 C or you can go to GSF for this
    Bracket to hold cable 357 721 135 2
    Boot for push rod 02A 141 728
I have found that when you 'beat' the bulkhead to fit the clutch master the top of the rain channel gets bent over time. The parts above will save you a lot of time.

    Hi,

I'm in the process of putting a 9A Corrado engine in my '90 16v GTI. I was going to put my 16v gearbox on to avoid having to transplant the pedal box and because I prefer the cable-operated clutch

Am I right in thinking that I could do as you suggest above and keep the Corrado gearbox but with my '1G' pedal box (i.e. a cable-operated clutch)? Would the gearbox remain cable-operated?

    Thanks,

    R.

Are you keeping the cable clutch through simplicity or preferance?

    Both really.

If I keep the cable clutch I won't have to transplant the pedal box.

Also, the mechanic who does the stuff I can't recommends keeping the cable clutch over the hydraulic one.

    Why do you ask?

    R.
