    HI All

can anyone please help me wire up my boost gauge? (Autogauge)

this is a 2001 Seat Leon Cupra, not exactly VW I know (kind of anyway)

below I have two pics, of the wires coming out of the boost gauge, and the wiring loom on the dimmer/headlights as this is where the wires connect to I have been told

Can anyone please tell me, which wires on the boost gauge do i attach to which coloured wires on the loom? :)

not 100% on your colour codes in your leon loom..

on the gauge, red +ve, black -ve, orange is lighting.

do you have access to a multimeter?? brown is usually earth/neutral though.

What loom is it your splicing into??

hi mate, thanks for the reply

sorry I dont have any access to a multimeter, and even if i did, electronics are not my strong point! although I can go as far as splicing a wire and connecting the boost gauge

the loom that I am splicing into is the where the switches are located for the headlights and dash board dimmer switches

lol it was a secret to me the other day until my mate showed me

basically you put the lights onto dipped i believe and then push it in and turn, which then releases it and it should pop out, you get the idea anyway:)

thanks for your help mate, really appreciate it

    Strange....

I was just about to say my leon has different wiring to yours....

Your on the headlight dimming side i've just noticed....

Red goes to pin 1 of the headlight switch proper (red black) - that is your switched + from the ignition

    cheers Mike

ah ok, you are on the headlight bit, and I am on the dimmer set of wires, hence the difference

OK, so to get this straight:

grey-blue (on loom) to orange from the gauge

brown (on loom) to black from the gauge

yellow (or red) (on loom) to red from the gauge

I have some red and black speaker wire, this will be ok to use on the black and red wire from the gauge?

what can I use for the orange wire from the gauge, just a normal piece of similar wire? reason I ask is the wires from the gauge are too short to reach that loom so I will have to extend them

dum questions I know, but electronics really is not my strong point as you can gather

    thanks again

No worries, you should attempt to use cable as near to the size of the cable on the gauge as possible really....but you'll prob get away with it...im sure it's not going to use a lot of power. (the orange one can be thinner yes, unless the gauge lights up like blackpool!)

Pin 1 of the headlamp switch (not the dimmer) to the red wire on the gauge (you ought to fuse it really mate 5amp or even less.)

Grey/Blue to the orange on the dimmer switch

And Black on the gauge to brown on the seat loom on the dimmer....the bottom of the two brown wires (thicker of the two)

excellent, thanks for all the help mate

by the way, why is it best to fuse it? will it blow the gauge if I don't?
