    Hi there,

Forgive me but I was wondering what the difference is between a normal silver GTI badge and the GTI badges with a red 'I' on the end please?

Next door has a beautiful black V reg 2.0 GTI and badge is all silver, but I see lots of 'red' badges knocking about too.

    Cheers for your help

    Les

Blue and Green "I" are special order items. Not standard fitment on VW cars.

The red "I" in GTI signifies that the car is a 1.8T version in either 150bhp or 180bhp guise.

    All silver "GTI" signifies either a 1.8 20v non-turbo with 125bhp (early reg S or T) or a 2.0 115bhp engine.

That is the official line, however most dealers will stick on whatever the customer wants so don't use it as a definitive guide! I've seen quite a few 1.8Ts with either all silver, all red or no badge at all. And a lot of 2.0s with the red 'I'.

    Cheers,

    Drew.

    It does mean poo!
You can look out on my forecourt and all the cars have different badges!
Its just whatever badge the person who sticks them on feels like putting on..
Maybe not like that, but even what badges are in stock when car is in production..

Red is the colour of hemorrhoids, a butchers floor at the end of the day and what comes out of my nose when I'm not feeling well.

Pretty well sums up all the emotions normal people have when they see a red MK2 drive by.

Actually it's not too bad for relieving stress.

Every time I look at it I hit it with a hammer and feel much better.
