Hi guys am i right in thinking its a wiper stalk issue when the intermittent wipers dont work? i have replaced the relay already and the only setting where the wiper comes on is the fastest setting... anything else the wiper wont move any help would be greatly appreciated
Have a look behind the stalk where it meets the steering column, see if you can squirt some wd40 in where the switch is, and work it a bit as it might have some corrosion on the contacts.
Bump...I have exactly this same problem on my new Mk2!! The wipers only work on full speed. Haven't tried the relay yet though, so hoping it's a simple fix DJUPLIFT - did Alexisblades trick work??
Isn't this possibly a relay issue for intermitent? I though it was also possible to use a Mk3 relay to get variable intermitent timing? Can someone remind me my memory is going............
99 relay from mk3 or passat gives you variable intermittant wipers, if relay doesnt fix then next id try the stalk. it might be the wiper motor itself is buggered tho, or a wiring issue. mk3 golf motor fits, and i think mk4 ones might do as well
if it works on full speed the it cant be the motor... it must be a wiring or relay issue as thats what ditermines the speed of the motor
yeah it can, the motor has all the slow, fast and park gubbins inside it. perhaps the slow speed resistor has packed in
ya tis in the motor. another test for if relay is the fault is to use your screen washers, if wiper stikll dont move its not the relay as washers bypass the relay and trigger the motor direct. if washer pump works but wipers dont you know issue isnt the stalks
sorry for the thread hijack, but im intrigued. I have a 96 n 2.0 b4 and my intermittant doesnt work, neither do my washer jets turn the wipers on, but all 3 speeds work, would this point at a faulty motor? Iv never bothered looking into the fault as its not a huge issue. But im intrigued! Again sorry to jump in. Rick.
if wipers work when you pull the stalk, then its the wiper motor. intermediate setting fail would suggest the relay is at fault, if slow and fast both work ok
